BRYAN Ty Suntken smacked a grand slam to key a big five run third innings and Jake Trejo held the Bryan Bear bats in check from there as Wauseon snapped Bryans 41 game NWOAL winning streak and brought back a 11-1 win on Monday April 15th. Wauseon jumped out to a quick 2-1 lead after one inning and added four more runs in the second to chase Bear starter Blake Kuszmaul. The Indians put the game away in the third thanks to Suntkens blast off the third Bryan pitcher of the day Collin Bacon and Trejo shut the door from there to preserve the five inning mercy rule victory. Axel Bueter also had a big day at the plate with three hits and two RBIs. Dugan Shadbolt contributed three hits, including a double, and Josh Cales had two singles and a RBI. Trejo also added a double and a RBI. Trejo went the distance, surrendering a single unearned first inning run and three hits over five innings. The senior hurler fanned five Bryan batters and walked just one. Wauseon improved to 7-1 on the year, 1-0 in the NWOAL. RUNS / HITS / ERRORS Wauseon: 11 - 12 - 1 Bryan: 1 - 3 3

WAUSEON Tied 1-1 after three innings, Patrick Henry came up with four runs in the top of the fourth and that was all they needed as the Lady Patriots picked up a NWOAL win over Wauseon 5-2. Patrick Henry opened up the scoring with a single run in the top of the first inning. The Lady Indians evened the score in the bottom of the second and wouldnt score again until the seventh inning. Ashley Smith paced the Wauseon attack with three hits. Lindy Mynhier, Abbey Schroeder, Sydney Chamberlain, and Quincy Brock also singled. Brock and Tiffany King drove in the only Lady Indian runs of the game. Sam Norman pitched a complete game and gave up two earned runs while striking out eight in taking the loss. Lady Golden Bears Defeat Wauseon 8-5


TONTOGANY The Wauseon Lady Indians started the game off on the right foot with three runs in the top of the first inning in their non-league battle against Northern Buckeye League foe Gibsonburg played at Otsego High School on Saturday April 20th. But the Lady Golden Bears returned the favor with three runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth and then added four more in the second on the way to an 8-5 victory over the Lady Indians. Gibsonburg tacked on one more run in the fourth before Wauseon plated single runs in the fifth and the seventh innings. The Lady Indian bats were again quiet on the day as they only managed four hits. Ashley Smith rapped a double for Wauseon while Brooke Whipple, Olivah Banister, and Quincy Brock each singled. Banister drove in a pair of runs while Whipple and Abbey Schroeder both contributed an RBI. Whipple pitched for Wauseon and took the loss, striking out three and walking four on the game. Indians Improve to 8-1 With NWOAL Win Over Patrick Henry


WAUSEON Wauseon rode strong pitching from Axel Bueter and Ty Suntken on the way to their eighth win of the year in a 6-1 win over Patrick Henry in a NWOAL game on Tuesday April 16th. The Indians scored all of their runs in a six run first inning off Patriot starter Gabe Jones, sending eleven men to the plate. Suntken led the Wauseon offense with two hits for the game while Bueter, Jake Trejo, Josh Cales, and Rodney Coblentz all drove in runs. Suntken and Cales also doubled off Patrick Henry pitching. Axel Bueter was the winning pitcher for Wauseon. Bueter struck out ten and walked six in his five innings of work and did not give up a run. Ty Suntken finished the game up and held the Patriots to an unearned run in the seventh. With the win, Wauseon improves to 8-1, 2-0 in the NWOAL. WAUSEON Collin Bzovi and Axel Bueter both ripped three hits for the Indians and Ty Suntken surrendered just one unearned run in five innings as Wauseon defeated NWOAL opponent Liberty Center 11-1 in a league game on Monday April 22nd. The Tigers and Indians exchanged first inning runs to open up the scoring. But Wauseon added three more in the third to seize the lead and then put the game to rest in the bottom of the fifth with seven runs to trigger the five inning mercy rule. Coblentzs Home Run the Difference Lady Indian JV Team Romps Over Otsego In 6-5 Indian Victory Over Delta
DELTA Rodney Coblentz homered in the top of the seventh and Ty Suntken shut the door on Delta in the bottom half of the inning to lead Wauseon Indians to their tenth win of the year- a 6-5 decision over Delta in a NWOAL game on Thursday April 25th. In a game that saw the momentum swing back and forth, it was the Panthers who jumped on top early on with a run in the first inning off Wauseon starter Jake Trejo. The Indians rallied back with a pair of runs in the top of the third off Panther pitcher Dominic Mattimore to retake the lead but Delta responded right back with a single run in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. Wauseon regained the lead the next inning but Delta struck twice in the bottom of the fourth and took a 4-3 lead. The Indians tied the game in the fifth and took a 5-4 lead in the sixth but Delta came back with a run of their own in the bottom

Wauseon Wins 11th In 10-0 Shutout Of Montpelier


MONTPELIER Dugan Shadbolt tossed a two hit shutout and Ty Suntken nearly hit for the cycle as the Wauseon Indians hammered Montpelier 10-0 in a NWOAL game on Friday April 26th. Shadbolt struck out ten, walked two, and held the Locos to just two hits over seven innings of work. Suntken had a pair of doubles and a triple sprinkled into his four hit day and drove in two runs. Collin Bzovi, Josh Cales, and Jacob Newlove contributed two hits each to round out an eleven hit Indian attack against three Montpelier pitchers. Cales, Newlove, and Rodney Coblentz also drove in Wauseon runs. Shadbolt took the win while Parker Houk, the first of three Loco pitchers sent to the mound, suffered the loss. Wauseons Mealer Signs NFL Contract With Saints


2008 Wauseon graduate and Michigan standout Elliott Mealer has signed a free agent rookie contract with the National Football Leagues New Orleans Saints. General Manager Mickey Loomis made the announcement on the Saints website that Mealer, along with 12 other undrafted free agents, had agreed to terms with the team following the end of the 2013 draft. Mealer played in 50 games over the duration of his career with the Wolverines and as a redshirt senior started all 13 games this past season as the teams starting center.

KENTON The Wauseon Lady Indians traveled south on Monday April 12th to participate with seven other high schools in the Kenton Relays and returned to Fulton County with an impressive second place finish. River Valley won the event with 91 points to the Lady Indians 81. Colonel Crawford came in a distant third with 61 points, edging out fourth place Bucyruss 59 and host Kenton finished in fifth with 53. Upper Sandusky (35 points), Indian Lake (12), and Upper Scioto Valley (11) rounded out the results. Wauseon Tennis Action


BOWLING GREEN The Wauseon boys tennis team traveled to Wood County to face off against the Bowling Green Bobcats in Monday April 15th non league action. The Indians lost two of the three singles matches and then split the doubles to come up just short 3-2. Don Hayati defeated Bowling Greens Pablo Mateo 6-0, 6-3 for the lone Indian win in singles. Alex Wenger lost 6-1, 6-1 to Ryan Motsinger and Ben Crowell also lost in straight sets 7-5, 6-3 to Garett Hammer. Both doubles matches went to three sets. Wauseons Boris Orellana and Devon Baird picked up another Indian victory overcoming Justin Overhulser and Austin Ezzone 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. But Bowling Greens Joe Buzzell and Austin Ray won a decisive third set 7-5 to hold off Bryce Keller and Kyle Blankenship 6-2, 6-7, 7-5.

Bowling Green Edges Tribe Net Set Slams The Door On Wauseon in Tennis Maumee Valley Country Day, 4-1
WAUSEON The Wauseon Tennis squad continued their strong play against Maumee Valley Country Day on April 25, putting down their visitors by a 4-1 count. In singles play, the Tribes Don Hayati ran his singles record to 9-0 in the #1 match by winning in straight sets over Reddy, 7-5 and 6-1. Bais of MVCD got the only win for the visitors in the #2 match with a straight set win over Alex Wenger, 6-2 and 6-4. Ben Crowell took the #3 match for the Tribe with a straight-set win over Bachelot, 7-5 and 6-4. The doubles teams cleaned house over MVCD, with the #1 team of Boris Orellana and Devon Baird taking the match over Fixler and Kattar, 6-2 and 6-2. The #2 match saw Wauseons Bryce Keller and Jacob Juan winning over Salem and Gambardella, 6-1 and 6-2.

Hayati Wins 6th Consecutive Match In Wauseon Tennis Loss To Ottawa Hills
OTTAWA HILLS Don Hayatis three set win put him at 6-0 on the season but it wasnt enough as Ottawa Hills defeated Wauseon 4-1 in a non-league match that took place on Tuesday April 16th. Hayati defeated Gargas 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 for the only Indian win of the day. In the other singles matches, Alex Wenger and Ben Crowell both fell to quality opponents. Wenger fell to Stevens of Ottawa Hills 6-0, 6-1 and Crowell also dropped consecutive sets to Simons 6-0, 6-0. Boris Orellana and Devon Baird lost 6-0, 6-4 to the Golden Bear duo of Hylant and Geiger while Bryce Keller and Kyle Blankenship also lost in straight sets to their Ottawa Hills opponents Judis and Judis.

Wauseon Netters Defeat Anthony Wayne


WAUSEON Wauseons tennis team continued to get good play from Don Hayati in singles and both of their doubles teams as they defeated visiting Anthony Wayne 4 matches to 1 in Monday April 22nd action. Hayati coasted by Adam Larkins in the #1 singles match 6-0, 6-0 and Ben Crowell was victorious in the #3 singles with a hard fought 7-5, 6-4 win over Anthony Waynes Todd Guardiola. Alex Wenger dropped a straight set decision to Sam Spencer 6-2, 6-3. Doubles team Boris Orellana and Devon Baird dropped the opening set but rallied to win the next two in vanquishing Alex Bokovinsky and Austin Kaminski 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the #1 doubles match. Bryce Keller and Jacob Juan had an easier time in dispatching Tyler Reeber and Tim Le 6-0, 6-1 in the #2 match.

WAUSEON Wauseons tennis team advanced in the OTCA tournament with a 3-2 win over Huron on Friday April 26th action. Don Hayati tied the school record with his 62nd career victory as he breezed by Hurons Tom Schneerdorfoer in straight sets 6-0, 6-1. Alex Wenger fell in the #2 singles match 6-1, 6-1 to Jake Guerrero. In the #3 singles, Ben Crowell had to go three sets to defeat Dylan Recard 6-1, 4-6, 6-1. Boris Orellana and Devon Baird lost to Dakota Jones and Deryk Wray 6-2, 6-3 in the #1 doubles match while Bryce Keller and Jacob Juan outlasted the team of Jake Lehrer and Patrick Dusza in a three set marathon 6-3, 6-7, 6-1. The Indians next face Lima Shawnee in the OTCA tournament.

Wauseon Jr High Track Squad Faced Off NWOAL Rival Archbold


WAUSEON The Wauseon Junior High track squad faced off against NWOAL rival Archbold in a dual meet on Monday April 22nd. The Lady Indian squad fell to Archbold 63-59 in a closely contested meet thanks to first place efforts from Lindsey Archibeque in the 100 hurdles and 200 hurdles, Danielle Saaf in the mile, Kylie Archibeque in the half mile, Rylee Campbell in the shot and Carys Grime in the disc. Placing second: Halen Mealer in the 100, Karli Penrod in the mile and high jump, Danielle Saaf in the half mile, Sammy Martin in the 200, Katlyn DeGroff in the shot and Paige Moden in the disc. Third place finishers included: McKayla Campbell in the 100 hurdles, Sammy Martin in the 100, Lindsey Archibeque in the 400, Timber Kreiner in the half mile, Bailey Wensink in the 200, Kylie Archibeque in the high jump, and Payton Lovins in the the shot and disc. The boys also lost to Archbold. Finishing with first place results for Wauseon: Joe Richer in the 200 hurdles and the disc, Dawson Rupp in the long jump and Ross Whipple in the shot. Placing second: Seth Hutchinson in the 100, Brendan Wilson in the mile, and Gordy Winland in the shot and the disc. Third place: Chase Reynolds in the 100 and 400, Aaron Beck in the mile and half mile, and Joe Richer in the 200.
