Other benefits: Flexible working hours and occasional working from home Job summary The Head of Fundraising and Marketing will be responsible for managing the charitys fundraising and trading programmes, with a particular focus on increasing income from corporate partnerships and trading activities, and on generating the profile needed to support effective income generation. Key objectives To develop fundraising and trading strategies, supported by annual plans and budgets, to deliver agreed income targets within budgeted expenditure. To take lead responsibility for corporate fundraising. To manage income generation from trading activities, including overseeing the marketing of trading activities, developing existing trading activities and identifying opportunities for new income-generating products and services. To raise the profile of the charity and its brand, with a focus on activities to support income generation while protecting the charitys reputation and brand. To represent positively and promote the charity and its work in all dealings, both internal and external. As a member of the senior management team, to contribute to the overall development, management and performance of the charity.

Key responsibilities Planning and management To develop strategy and objectives for fundraising and trading, and contribute to strategy development for the charity as a whole. To develop appropriate plans, budgets and key performance measurements, ensure that staffing and other resources are in place to support the plans, and monitor and report on performance against targets. To manage and develop staff in the fundraising and marketing team to achieve their full potential. To manage the budgets for fundraising and trading. To monitor and manage the performance of external suppliers commissioned to deliver activities.

To work co-operatively to ensure the effective integration of fundraising and trading activities within the charitys other activities.

Fundraising To maintain and develop relationships with current corporate partners and develop new prospects, providing good account management for each relationship. To identify and develop opportunities for corporate partnerships, and secure long term and high value relationships. To protect the reputation of the charity and its brand, overseeing liaison with companies over branding issues, ensuring the adoption of branding guidelines and overseeing the development of new corporate branding guidelines as required. To ensure that the appropriate assistance is provided to the Chief Executive to support statutory fundraising, eg undertaking negotiations over license fees. To undertake trust fundraising as appropriate, including from corporate trusts. To identify new fundraising opportunities, assessing the fit with the charitys work and the likely return on investment, developing new fundraising activities as appropriate.

Trading To oversee the effective marketing of the charitys publications and its training and consultancy services. To write/edit promotional copy as required. To identify opportunities to develop new income-generating products and services, undertaking research as required and developing costed proposals. To take overall responsibility for customer care within the charity.

Contracts and insurance To ensure that the appropriate contracts and insurance are in place: o o with freelance contractors who deliver trading activities with corporate partners so as to conform to good practice.

Communications As a member of the communications team chaired by the Chief Executive, to actively contribute to plans designed to raise the profile of the charity and its brand. To contribute to the development of the charitys website, email bulletin and contact database, ensuring they are developed and used to best advantage for fundraising and marketing purposes. To sign off relevant resources and communications, ensuring that they maintain the charitys corporate identity and brand values, and support the charitys broader work.

General To attend and participate in internal meetings, as appropriate. To work closely with other members of the staff team, keeping abreast of useful developments, sharing useful contacts, communicating plans and ensuring that fundraising and marketing activities are fully integrated within the charitys other activities. To develop a personal knowledge base on XXX, to underpin effective fundraising and marketing activities. To ensure that the charitys equal opportunities and diversity policies are followed through in all aspects of work.

Person specification E = Essential D = Desirable Knowledge and experience: 1. A proven track record of meeting and exceeding income targets 2. Substantial and demonstrable charity fundraising at a senior level 3. Experience of new business development, including developing proposals and negotiating partnerships 4. Experience of account management of corporate partnerships, including managing key relationships with high level supporters 5. Experience of a range of corporate fundraising activities (eg sponsorship, commercial participation, pin badge promotions) 6. Experience of budgetary preparation and control, and of costing proposals 7. A thorough knowledge of fundraising legislation and charity law, and of the liability and VAT issues for corporate fundraising and contracts 8. A thorough appreciation of ethical fundraising, with the ability to assess each prospect on a case-by-case basis, with specialist input from staff, safety consultants and trustees 9. Experience of managing paid staff or freelancers 10. Membership of the Institute of Fundraising, Chartered Institute of Marketing or other recognised appropriate professional body 11.
