Product Name: Planet of the Apes Target User: Everyone over 16 Brief History:

Redesign Plan

Planet of the Apes is a 1968 American science fiction film directed by Franklin J. Schaffner, based on the 1963 French novel La Plante des singes by Pierre Boulle. The film stars Charlton Heston, Roddy McDowall, Maurice Evans, Kim Hunter and Linda Harrison. It was the first in a series of five films made between 1968 and 1973, all produced by Arthur P. Jacobs and released by 20th Century Fox. The film tells the story of an astronaut crew who crash-land on a strange planet in the distant future. Although the planet appears desolate at first, the surviving crew members stumble upon a society in which apes have evolved into creatures with human-like intelligence and speech. The apes have assumed the role of the dominant species and humans are mute creatures wearing animal skins.

Big Idea:

Despite of its huge success, and critical acclaim from the movie critics the cover of the movie Planet of the Apes has been voted one of the worst in the history of movie making. It could be improved significantly to communicate more to the viewers, so that theyd be interested to watch the movie, and would not ignore it by just looking at the DVD cover. Ill be creating of minimalist cover poster for the DVD. I dont want do create a cliche of all the other science fiction movies, but Ill definitely get some ideas from them. The whole idea is to entice people to watch the movie by giving them something about the movie, but not everything so that it wouldnt spoil the movie. The plan to advertise this new product is by the use of print ads in various mediums and through tv commercials. This redesign will change the view of the people who judge movies by the covers. Also because of the reboot of the whole Planet of the Apes series, people are interested in watching the original version as well so this new design will encourage them to buy or rent the movie, and increase the sales for the franchise.
