IwillpunishthekingofAssyriaforthewillfulprideofhisheartandthehaughty lookinhiseyes.Forhesays:BythestrengthofmyhandIhavedonethis,andby mywisdom,becauseIhaveunderstanding.(NIV)

First,letsexaminethetexthereinthebookofIsaiah. Inthisverse,GodisexplainingthatheisgoingtopunishthekingofAssyriabecauseheis prideful.Thekingcreditedhisvictoriesandaccomplishmentstohisownstrengthandwisdom andnottoGod. ThekingislikesomanyofuswhofailtoseehowGodisresponsibleforoursuccessesand howGodusesusforhispurposes,andthathispurposeswillalwaysprevail(Isaiah10:7). GodsaidhewouldpunishthekingafterfinishinghisworkagainstMountZionandJerusalem. Rightnow,GodwasusingtheAssyrianstojudgehispeopleb/ctheyweregodless.

TheAssyriansdidntintendtobeusedbyGodtheyonlywantedtodestroymanynations(Isaiah 10:7).

TodaysIsaiahbiblestudyversesremindedmethatIneedtothankGodformysuccessesand givehimtheglorywhensharingmyaccomplishmentswithothers. IneedtorememberthatGodworksthroughmeforhispurposesandthatIamatoolinGods hands.TheseverseshelpedmetorememberthatwhateverIhaveaccomplished,ithasbeen b/cofGod. IneedtothankGodformysuccessesandnotboastinmyownstrength.Godwantsmetobe humble. TheseversesalsohelpmetorememberthatGodisnotonlythereasonformysuccessesbut heisalsobehindthesuccessandaccomplishmentsofotherpeople. IalsorealizedthatournationdoesntalwaysacknowledgeGodorcredithimwhenwe experiencevictoriesinstead,weboastinourownplans,inourselves,andinourarmy. Instead,ournationshouldacknowledgeGodspowerwhenwehavevictoriesandpraisehimfor whatHEhasdone.
