SKYCOURTS, DUBAILAND RESIDENTIAL COMPLEX PLOT RC-A-30 METHOD STATEMENT INSTALLATION AND TESTING OF WATER SUPPLY PIPES AND ACCESSORIES 1. Purpose
This methodology covers the procedure to be followed for the installation of water supply works in accordance with the applicable standards, local authority regulations, specifications and contract documents.
2. Scope
To install the water supply works and accessories for water service which was submitted and approved via separate material submittal Nos:. SK/CN/06/007/STS-01000/004, SK/CN/06/007/STS-01000/003 and SK/CN/06/007/STS-01000/061 and to do the testing and obtain the approval of the consultant.
4. Inspection of Materials
1. The project QA/QC Engineer will inspect the received material and make sure that the delivered materials are as per the approved material submittal. 2. After inspection by the project QA/QC, the inspection request along with checklist signed by project QA/QC will be prepared and sent to the consultant for further checking of the material.
3. Once the consultant approval is obtained, the materials will be ready for installation.
6. Installation procedure
1. The approved materials for erection are taken to the site as and when required for installation. 2. The piping and accessories are installed according to the shop drawings and coordination drawing (No: CSCEC/SD/P-100 to 116), approved by the consultant. 3. The location of work is inspected to ensure smooth and safe working conditions and any hindrances are removed. 4. The location of pipe hangers is marked as per the approved shop drawings. The hangers are hanged with treaded rods at the marked positions with proper tools. .
G. Joints between copper pipe and threaded valves to be made by brass-threaded male connectors with solder cup one end or by copper flanges with solder cup end, depending on size of pipe.
PPR Pipe
A. Fix the pipe supports (Threaded rod & clamps) in the structural slab. The distance between two supports should be as per approved drawings and specifications. Jointing of PPR Pipes shall be done as per the manufacturers recommendations. PPR pipe shall be use for cold water supply and for hot water supply.
B. C.
Pex Pipe
A. The pipe route will be marked first and then the wall will be chipped. B. Make sure the distance between the pipe conduit and wall surface is at least 25mm. C. Pex pipe shall be used for hot and cold water, concealed in the wall and shall be pulled in a corrugated conduit. D. The plaster work shall be finish to avoid any damage. 5. After installation is carried out, the QA/QC engineer will check the system and make sure that the installation is as per the approved drawings and specification. 6. Once project QA/QC inspection is carried out, the inspection request will be send to the consultant for inspection and approval.
7. Testing
1. Cap the ends of pipe leaving one end open. Connect the open end to Hand pump connected with a suitable pressure gauge. Flush the Pipeline before pressurizing. 2. Fill the Pipeline with clean water & pressurise by pump up to 1.5 times working pressure. 3. Note the pressure Gauge reading after system stabilization. 4. Check the pressure after 8 hours. There should not be considerable change in pressure if the surrounding temperature is same. 5. Release the water if there is no leak.
9. Safety
1. All appropriate safety protective gear, i.e. helmet, safety shoes, gloves, goggles, etc. should be worn by workmen. 2. Use appropriate sling and lifting equipments for safe and smooth movement of pipes. 3. Care must be taken to avoid dropping/falling of objects through sleeves, shafts etc. 4. Proper ladder and guarded scaffolding shall be use to avoid falls from height. 5. Adequate lighting and ventilation shall be provided in work area. 6. Protective mask shall be worn by workmen while cleaning the pipe or any dust in the site is observed. 7. The safety matrix is attached.
