G5.5.4 I can make maps that give information about different aspects in the United States G6.5.2 I can identify places that have some historical events that have occurred in America

E. Procedure: 1. Students will have a journal entry; students are to write at least 1 paragraph (5-8) sentences about what they have learned about the 13 colonies thus far. Students will be asked to share at random. 2. As a class, we will watch a video on the middle colonies, the link is provided below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yw9pw8rIDlU, after the video we will discuss the details of the video. 3. Students will visit the follow sites with their small groups: http://mrnussbaum.com/13colonies/13regions/#ne and http://mrnussbaum.com/13colonies/13profiles/... Students will read an overview on the middle colonies, they will paraphrase what they have read and come up with several facts about the middle colonies. On the second link, students are to color on their map the Middle Colonies. Students are to then click on each of the tan-orange colored colonies to find out more information about each colony. Students are to paraphrase the information and write it down. 4. Discussion-As a class, we will go over what each group found important about the building of the middle colonies, the way they functioned, and the type of work they did. 5. CLOSURE: Review the basis of what the Middle Colonies were. F. Assessment: What will you use to measure student understanding? Their journal question as well as their questionnaire will serve as my way to measure my students understanding. The questionnaire include, 2 true and false, 4 multiple choice, and 4 short answer. Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from the lesson. Based on what they were able to write in their journal entry as well as their answer to the questionnaire, I will be able to get an accurate read of how much my students understand. G. Reflection: 1. Which part of the lesson do you think will be the easiest for you to teach?
