Refrigerated, Low-Humidity Chamber

This chamber includes a refrigeration module capable of maintaining temperatures as low as -20C. The stainless steel chamber features double-wall construction with 2" of polyurethane insulation for optimal thermal efficiency. A humidity control system, including a variable purge controller and automatic humidity controller, regulates the nitrogen process gas to maintain an internal moisture level as low as 2%RH.

Temperature/Humidity Cycling Chamber

This glovebox is ideal for accelerated-life testing of elastomers, fiber composites, and other materials over a broad range of temperature (-20F to +140F) and humidity (5 to 95% RH). Double-wall construction is provided on all sides. Viewing windows are double-pane polycarbonate for strength and temperature resistance. Stainless steel walls include 4" of polyurethane insulation. A pass-through oven on one side of the processing chamber allows degassing at temperatures up to 300C, and an opposing-side air lock allows parts removal. A closed-loop recirculation module continuously recycles air through a HEPA filter and an activated charcoal filter for removal of organic vapors.

Pharmaceutical Packaging Chambers
Designed for safe handling of pharmaceutical powders, this containment glovebox operates under negative pressure. Multiple ventilation ports ensure containment of powders when access doors are opened, and dual vacuum lines allow connection of vacuum wands for easy clean-up of powder spills. Powder containers are introduced into the outside chambers via dual pneumatically operated, footswitch-activated doors; a loading platform at the rear of the unit accommodates bulk containers. A large opening on the bottom of the central chamber connects to a containment drum by means of a rubber bellows, allowing safe removal of large packages or loose powder. Overall dimensions: 104"W x 32.5"D x 33"H.

Particle-Free, Low-Humidity Glovebox
HEPA Filter / Blower with Pressure Alarms and Emergency Vent
Designed to provide a clean, moisture-free environment, this glovebox is large enough to accommodate wafer spinners used in the deposition process. Its rounded internal corners also make it ideal for pharmaceutical powders. It incorporates a high-volume process gas mixer that controls percentages of two process gases. A three-sided plenum design recirculates the process gas through dual filter/fan modules for HEPA filtration (99.99% efficient @ 0.3 m particles). The bottom plenum includes cooling coils that compensate for heat-generating process equipment to ensure a constant temperature of 68F. Dual-side air locks afford easy loading and unloading of wafers.

Stable Temperature/Humidity Containment Glovebox
This glovebox safely contains potential biohazards while providing a stable environment over a broad range of temperatures (-2C to 36C) tested at various humidity levels between 0 and 75% RH. The stainless steel chamber features 2" of insulation and internal dimensions of 33" x 33" x 33" (overall dimensions: 37"W x 37"D x 52"H). A high-capacity air conditioner holds a stable temperature down to -2C, and a 4000W heater integrated into the evaporator coil achieves temperature stability to 36C. The dry nitrogen feed gas provides a low %RH; an ultrasonic humidifier provides elevated RH to 74% without moisture condensation. The chamber includes a bag-in/bag-out port that can be used for transferring waste out of the chamber. The large swing-up access door allows easy cleaning of the chamber. This 12-gauge stainless steel isolation glovebox is designed for safe handling of radioactive materials used in medical applications. It features two chambers connected by a vacuum port. One-piece gaskets and heavy-duty counter-balanced port hatches ensure a low leak rate of 0.5% of the volume of the total enclosure per hour (tested under 5" WG of vacuum).

Meteorite Nitrogen Chamber

This 304 electropolished stainless steel glovebox is configured for processing meteorite samples in a low-particle, low-humidity environment. Each system consists of two glovebox chambers linked by a pass-through air lock, which allows transfer of samples without affecting conditions in either chamber. Stainless steel glove ports with hypalon gloves allow manipulation of samples. Stainless steel shelves mounted inside each chamber allow organized sample storage. Terras Dual Purge and NitroWatch control systems automatically regulate the nitrogen flow to the chambers in order to maintain a user set point between ambient and 5%RH.
Ventilated Hazardous Environment Chamber

In this application, potentially lethal CO gas is fed into a large chamber at precise concentrations to allow accurate sensor calibration. A gas mixing system maintains a ratio of 2% CO/98% air during calibration. To meet requirements for high-humidity sensor performance, a Humex humidifier raises the moisture level inside the chamber to 95% RH. A process gas heater and cooler provide precise calibration temperatures. Circulation fans ensure uniform temperature and humidity throughout the main chamber. An emergency ventilation system evacuates the CO/air mixtures from the main chamber.

Dual footswitch-activated pneumatic doors simplify parts insertion through large antechambers. Anaerobic Test Chamber

Designed for drug efficacy and dosing studies in anaerobic environments, this automated, dual-level testing chamber maintains an oxygen concentration down to 0.1% at a selected temperature. Computer-controlled electronic interlocks and rapid purging antechambers allow transfer of test samples without disturbing the test environment. These interlocks, in coordination with programmable UV sterilization and HEPA filtration cycles, prevent microbe contamination of the outside environment during sample/ equipment extraction. Smart Glovebox Automated RH Control System

Automates low-humidity processing to prevent degradation of moisture-parts Gas control system auto-adjusts nitrogen purge to maintain humidity set point Terras Smart Glovebox automatically maintains a low-humidity environment to protect moisture-sensitive parts. Its quick-response feedback system continuously monitors the chambers relative humidity level and indicates the measured value on a bright LED display. The minute the %RH climbs above a set point value, the Smart Glovebox activates a flow of dry nitrogen for as long as needed to restore the desired humidity level. This fast-acting control system economizes on nitrogen use. Comparison testing reveals that the Smart Glovebox maintaining a 10% RH level uses only 22% of the nitrogen required by a flowmeter-based system of identical size. More importantly, this automated operation maintains the integrity of sensitive parts, such as semiconductor chips, medical devices or pharmaceutical powders, without operator monitoring. For optimal performance, select a pass-through air lock, which functions as a transfer buffer zone. The Smart Glovebox includes a control system, Automatic RB valve, and inlet/outlet fittings for 0.25"-diameter gas line. A removable back wall allows introduction of large process equipment. Select air lock, work surface and gloves separately.

Standard Air Lock

These air locks mount on the right side of the glovebox to allow easy pass-through of parts into and out of the chamber. They feature a swing-down door on the front (outside) and a second door that is easy to open by a gloved hand from inside the glovebox. One-piece nonadhesive gasket enhances sealing performance and extends service life. Capped ports are provided to allow purging of the air lock with nitrogen. Right mounting is standard.

Chrome-plated racks accommodate adjustable shelves. In-line double-door construction lets you pass small parts easily into the glovebox; you simply slide a shelf through the outside door to load parts and then through the inside door to unload them in the chamber. This vacuum capability also allows removal of atmospheric humidity and oxygen and backfill with a process gas, quickly providing a moisture-free, low-oxygen environment for applications as diverse as Lithium battery manufacturing and anaerobic pathogen studies. For automated vacuum control, select the Vacuum Control Module, pump and connection kit below. For automated backfill and purging, select the Dual Purge System and Trace Oxygen Analyzer, which work in tandem to provide oxygen levels down to 1 ppm(v). The optional air lock allows transfer of materials into the glovebox without breaching the controlled environment. Series 210 Vacuum Glovebox Includes leveling feet, dual valves for connection to vacuum pump and backfill gas source, pressure gauge and relief/bleed valve, which closes during vacuum operations. Order airlock gloves and vacuum/purge controls separately.

How to Attain Extremely Low RH/O2 Concentrations: Vacuum Cycling vs. Purge and Bleed Vacuum cycling provides the quickest, most economical way to achieve extremely low moisture and oxygen levels inside a glovebox. Purge-and-bleed displacement relies on a continuous purge of dry process gas (typically, nitrogen or argon) to displace moisture-laded air, which exits through a bleed valve. This process typically requires many hours, consumes a high volume of process gas, and may never achieve very low oxygen concentrations (below 5 ppm) required in many applications. Vacuum cycling evacuates ambient airand with it, moisture and oxygeninside a vacuum chamber or glovebox. When air is removed, you simply backfill the chamber with process gas until the chamber attains neutral pressure. If needed, this process is repeated until oxygen or moisture concentration reaches the desired level. Typically, only a few cycles, requiring only a fraction of the gas and time of a purge-and-bleed protocol, are all thats needed to reach single-digit oxygen concentrations. Once set point levels are attained, close off vacuum valves and use a Dual Purge System and appropriate controller (NitroWatch for relative humidity, Trace Oxygen Analyzer for O2 concentration) to maintain dry, anaerobic conditions.

The Captair Pyramid is a disposable isolation enclosure that provides excellent protection in a mobile design. The enclosure, base, and gloves are made of flexible PVC and assembled by high frequency welding to guarantee laboratory certified air tightness. Arm openings are equipped with cuffs on arm sleeves for better rigidity during handlings and support rods maintain the enclosure upright during manipulations. Heating & Cooling Modules

Maintains a constant temperature between -25F and 120F (-32C and 49C) Includes CFC-free refrigeration system and heating module Select insulated chambers for energy-efficient temperature control above or blow ambient (see facing page) This system consists of compressor/condenser unit and heater, mounted inside a 304 stainless steel housing, and an evaporator cooler, mounted inside the chamber. The closed-loop refrigeration unit operates with an environmentally friendly coolant (CFC free) and uses a RTD sensor, which provides continuous temperature display and overtemperature protection with an internal bypass to prevent temperature overshoot. The systems evaporator cooler, mounted in an aluminum housing, includes an integral fan that recirculates process gas inside the chamber through the cooling coils. Standard controller allows user to establish a constant temperature set point. A PLC controller, programmed for multiple temperature cycles, is available on an optional basis.

Terra Universals Process Gas Heater raises the temperature of the process gas up to 350F (see performance graphs). The thermostatic control ensures temperature stability. Its isolated heating system provides controlled heating without direct contact with the process gasguaranteeing safe, noncontaminating operation with potentially explosive gases. Versatile Three-Part System

Terras standard 10"-diameter glove ports, made of ABS plastic, accommodate all the gloves on the facing page. Their versatile internal mounting hardware allows you to expand system capabilities by adding either port covers or iris ports. Port covers include an O-ring that seals tightly against the glove ports from the inside of the chamber. This internalmount system lets you seal a chamber when work is not in process, and to replace gloves without affecting the internal environment. Handles allow easy manipulation of the caps. Iris ports also mount against the ports from the inside, converting the chamber into an easy-access, non-sealed chamber that operators can access using standard laboratory gloves. This Trace Oxygen Analyzer utilizes precise Zirconia Oxide diffusion sensors to accurately detect oxygen concentrations, making it ideal for applications in which even minute concentrations of oxygen can degrade parts. With a user-friendly, menu-driven microprocessor and a quick response time, this Oxygen Analyzer is capable of measuring from 0.01ppm to 100% oxygen with a high degree of accuracy. An RS232 interface is included. The control housing contains: the electronics module, the sensor, the sample cell, and a high-purity pump that draws gas from the glovebox for analysis. Closed-Loop Filtration Module for Continuous Recirculation Includes a 460-CFM impeller blower, mounted in a 304 SS housing, that draws air through an inlet HEPA, ULPA or charcoal filter. HEPA and ULPA filters remove particulates, aerosols, spores and other contaminants to ensure a clean process environment. The charcoal filter removes common organic vapors. A 4-position PVC diverter valve determines the percentage of fresh make-up air entering the chamber: either 100% (no recirculation); 0% (complete recirculation); or 50% (half fresh, half recirculated). For Continuous Filtration
Open-Loop Filtration Module for Safe Indoor Exhausting Includes a 460-CFM impeller blower, mounted in a 304 SS housing, that draws air through an inlet filter into the glovebox. This filter (HEPA or ULPA) removes particulates, aerosols, spores, and other contaminants. A HEPA or ULPA filter removes contaminants from the exhaust for indoor release. Both filters are enclosed in a disposable acrylic housing for safe, easy handling and disposal. Select HEPA or ULPA filters (2 required). Powder Containment Filter Encases 12" x 12" x 3" HEPA or ULPA filter inside an acrylic containment case for safe handling and disposal of filter containing pharmaceutical powders or other hazardous dust. To replace filter, simply remove and bag inner case. Outer housing includes 4"-dia. x 3"H flange for connection to in-house ventilation system does not include blower.

Terras CleanCube provides a vertical laminar flow of filtered air to create a particle-free environment. Its onepiece hood design eliminates cracks and crevasses where germs or particles can collect.
