TUITION FEES QUESTIONNAIRE

PRINCIPLES FOR TUITION FEES ASSESSMENT The purpose of this questionnaire is to assist the University in deciding which of the two levels of tuition fee applicants should be allocated. The two levels are known as Home and Overseas. The guidance on allocating tuition fees status is complex but the basic principles for allocating Home fees status for most BUT NOT ALL applicants are as follows: a) The applicant (or in some circumstances the applicants parents) should have settled status under United Kingdom Immigration regulations. This means that they should have the right to remain in the UK without time limit. Most European Union nationals (but NOT all categories of British citizen) meet this criterion. b) The applicant should have been ordinarily resident in the UK (or in some circumstances the European Union) for purposes other than education for at least three years before certain set dates prior to the start of the course (for example, for students starting in September 2010 the set date is 1st September 2007). SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED Please note that where an applicants tuition fee status is unclear or has been set incorrectly by the applicant on their original application, the University must receive the full information required before any amendment to fees status can be made. It will aid a rapid decision on your status if you can supply copies of documents confirming the relevant items of information from the list below in addition to returning the fully completed questionnaire. Note 1 Confirmation of your nationality including any dual nationality (and that of your parents if their nationality differs from your own). Please supply a photocopy of the appropriate passports. Note 2 United Kingdom Immigration status. Please supply copies of all letters received from the Immigration & Nationality Directorate of the Home Office and all visa stamps pertaining to your status in the UK. Note 3 Residence outside the UK/EU due to temporary employment. If you have been resident outside the European Union due to the temporary employment of yourself or a parent, please supply the following information: a) Confirmation from the employer of the nature, duration and termination date of the employment outside the UK/EU and whether the relevant person was recruited or posted from the UK/EU. b) Copies of documents confirming any links you may have retained with the UK/EU whilst overseas. These might include ownership/rental and use of a residential property in the UK/EU and regular return visits to the UK/EU. Note 4 Residence within the EU for three years prior to the start of your course. Applicants who have been resident in the UK or EU for the three years before the start of their course should supply copies of documents confirming ordinary (ie non-educational) residence. This might include confirmation by a local government organisation of family residence in an EU country, ownership/rental and use of a residential property by the applicants family and paid full time employment by the applicant or a parent or guardian.
