Concluding Facts concerning Baptism.

1) In baptism we take a public STAND against the devil and sin. 2) Baptism is a CHALLENGE to the power of darkness. We are living for the Lord Jesus. 3) It is an act of FAITH, calling on the grace of God for strength to OVERCOME. 4) It is a command. It is not optional. It is for us to OBEY and submit to. 5) If JESUS needed to be baptized to fulfill all righteousness, we surely need to be also.

NOT for Salvation for Salvation is not by our Good Works nor by our Righteous Deeds, it is by Faith in Christ Jesus alone. NOT for Becoming a Christian for one becomes a Christian by receiving Jesus Christ into ones heart. NOT through Sprinkling nor Pouring for the meaning of Baptism is to plunge under or to immerse, therefore by immersion. NOT for Unbelievers for only Believers and Followers are called to be baptized in the New Testament. BUT should be done in obedience after Salvation for this is the dramatization of what happened to you in Christ Jesus when you receive Him you were buried and raised up with Him. BUT should be your public witness to the world being a Christian for this is what the Christian Church did in the beginning. BUT for people who have been taught, repented and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Meaning of Baptism.
1) Baptism does not mean REGENERATION or forgiveness of sin. 2) Baptism states the fact of an event that has ALREADY transpired beforehand. 3) Baptism is an outward symbol of an inward REALITYa genuine conversion. 4) Baptism is obedience to the command of Christ, following Christ's example, fulfilling all righteousness, separation by death from sin, identification with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection, and association with Christ BODY.

How should one be Baptized.

1) In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit OR in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. 2) Substance used is WATER. 3) Must be performed by one or more REPRESENTATIVES of the church. 4) Generally performed in a river, sometimes in a building or under conditions not specified. [must have lots of water available to cover the participant] 5) The mode of baptism is by immersion (to dip UNDER).

When should one be Baptized?

When one is old enough to UNDERSTAND and meet the conditions stated above.

Who may be Baptized.

1) Those who have heard the gospel and BELIEVED. 2) Those whose eyes are OPENED. 3) Those who have REPENTED. 4) Those who bring forth fruit worthy of REPENTANCE. 5) Those who have RECEIVED the Holy Spirit. 6) Those who have been TAUGHT the Word of God. 7) Those who have died, and who now live a NEW spiritual life in Christ. page
