Rayne Chapman CEO/Founder of Arcy Caf

Rayne Chapman is the founder and CEO of Arcy Caf. She opened the student-run coffee shop and study lounge in 2017 following her graduation from the University of Southern California (USC) in 2015. Rayne earned her undergraduate degree with a major in Public Relations and minor in Communication Design. Following graduation she was employed by a corporate PR firm called Weber and Shandwick where she continues to work today. For Rayne, Arcy Caf began as a side business but has become much more like a philanthropic project. She describes it as a creative outlet and the ideal opportunity to play her role in the Trojan Family as an alumna. One semester after the opening of its doors, Arcy was awarded as USCs #1 Place to Study based on a poll taken by USC students conducted by the University Student Government. By 2017 the USC Alumni Society proposed a partnership with Rayne and Arcy Caf to open a second location in the middle of campus. In the spring of 2018 Arcy 2.0 opened its doors as the newest edition to the Ronald Tutor Campus Center, including a rooftop study area and a tutor center. Since its opening, Rayne has focused her efforts on creating an ideal environment catering to the students needs. She is in constant communication with the Roski School of Fine Arts as they assist with filling the walls of both locations with student work, allowing for student artists to display their artwork for peers and admirers. With the periodical rotation of artwork, Arcy Caf strives to provide an inspiring environment for students to work as well as relax. Displaying artists work in Arcy and Arcy 2.0 was inspired by Raynes favorite coffee shop in her hometown of Carlsbad, California. Throughout high school she spent many Sundays drinking chai teas and studying with the hopes of attending a four-year college. When she was accepted to USC as an undergraduate student in the fall of 2011, she looked forward to the work hard, play hard atmosphere USC embodied. However, the libraries on campus always seemed too quite and serious. Therefore, perhaps the only accommodation USC lacked was that perfect coffee shop to study or meet with an old friend or professor. The purpose Rayne sought to achieve with Arcy was therefore developed as a result of reflecting on her college experience. She strived to provide the perfect coffee shop setting with affordable drinks and a basic caf menu. Ideally, Arcy Caf will assist students through midterms, finals, rainy days, and their best times for generations to come, which continues to be Raynes main goal to this day.
