BCC Intensive English Program Grade Five Course Syllabus for Semester 1 / 2013-2014

Course Objectives: To encourage children to be active and constructive in their own learning, using English as a tool to do things and to create personally significant meaning. To integrate learning English with other areas of learning at primary school. To help children learn how to learn and to encourage them to begin to become responsible, independent, reflective learners. To promote an atmosphere of co-operation and collaboration in class.

Unit 2 Whats on TV? 57 June 10June 28 Over the course of the next three weeks students will be working on the unit titled Whats on TV? During this unit students will learn to talk about TV program genres. They will also learn to talk about expressing their opinions and choosing their TV program preferences. Reading CAT Week 7 Unit 3 Hands On Unit 3 8 10 July 1 July 19 Over the course of the next three weeks students will be working on the unit titled Hands On. During this unit students will learn about arts and crafts from around the world. They will also be leaning how to express possibility using could Writing CAT Week 8 Unit 4 Ill Take It 11 13 July 24 Aug 9 Over the course of the next three weeks students will be working on the unit titled Ill Take It. During this unit students will about shopping, going to outdoor markets and products you can find is such places. They will also learn about advertising. Listening CAT Week 13 Unit 5 Travel Trouble Over the course of the next three weeks students will be working on the unit titled Travel Trouble. During this unit students will learn to talk about travel experiences, weather conditions and vacation activities and tips. They will also be leaning about Murphys Law.
