How to Make Ice Cream

You need these ingredients to make ice cream:

2 cups milk (not skim) or cream 2 tablespoons sugar 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract (can substitute other flavoring.) Several cups of Ice (the smaller the pieces, the better) 1 cup salt (rock salt is best, but table salt can also be used)

You need these supplies to make ice cream

Tub or large coffee can to hold salt and ice Glass bowl or small coffee can Electric mixer or whisk Ice cream scoop Storage container for freezer

Here are the instructions that you must follow to make ice cream
1. Setting up the cooling apparatus. Stir ice and salt in the larger container. Double-

check that the small container will fit into the larger one even with the ice. 2. Combine the ingredients. Mix together the milk, sugar, and vanilla in the glass bowl. Then, set this bowl in the tub filled with ice and rock salt, making sure that the salt water does not spill into the bowl. Instead of a glass bowl and tub, you can also use a small coffee can inside a large coffee can. 3. Mix the ice cream. Mix the ingredients in the small container vigorously. The salty ice mixture will cool the mixture down until it turns into ice cream. Mix very thoroughly. If you're using a whisk instead of an electric mixer in your glass bowl, you'll have to stir very hard, or ice crystals will form in the ice cream. If you are using the coffee can method, make sure both cans are well sealed, and then roll and shake to mix the ice cream mixture. It should take about 10 to 15 minutes to stir the ice cream using either method. Stir until it is free from ice crystals and is the right consistency. 4. Storage and serving. If you don't eat the ice cream right away, be sure to store it in the freezer so that it doesn't melt.

How to Draw Cartoon Characters

Believable and unique characters are the most important part of a good cartoon. The characters are drawn simply with details left out, and some features are exaggerated. Follow the steps below for drawing cartoon characters. Instructions 1. Begin with pencil, and quickly and loosely sketch basic shapes forming the characters figure. Break down all parts of the body into basic ovals, circles, boxes, curves and lines. 2. Think about personality of the character. The characteristics need to definitely fit the personality of the character. The character may be anything, from grumpy to friendly, brave to cowardly, hero or villain. 3. Draw the character standing in the correct posture. A character with a head down and hands in the pocket is probably shy. A character with broad shoulders that stands tall is probably brave or confident. 4. Dress the character carefully. The right clothes are very important. The right clothes for the character might be military uniform, blue jeans with holes in the knees, or a spandex superhero uniform. 5. Consider the subliminal effects including certain shapes the character may have. Curves and circles usually indicate a friendly or childlike person, while triangles and sharp angles look threatening. Reliable, string and hero-like characters are usually squared and solid in the face and body shape. 6. Make the face very expressive. The eyes alone give away very much of the characters personality. Eyes can look nervous, frightened, thoughtful, confident or suspicious. The shape of face is very important in indicating the age of the character. Youthful faces are round with big, round eyes. Mean faces are often long and skinny with small, beady eyes. 7. Once a satisfying character is drawn, darken the lines with ink or marker. Then the picture is ready to color. Pencils, markers or paint work the best.

How to Make Goat Milk Soap

Homemade soap can be a welcome addition to anyones bathing routine, especially for someone with sensitive skin. Goat milk soap is a very moisturizing, soft soap and not that difficult to make. Follow some simple instructions and make goat milk soap for home use or to give away as gifts. Instructions 1. Prepare soap molds. Soap molds can be found at most crafts stores. Dont use molds for soap that will be used for food later. Grease the molds well with Vaseline. 2. Melt 1 half pounds of fat; this can be lard, tallow or even vegetable shortening. This should cool to a temperature between 85 to 90 degrees. 3. Carefully pour out 6.5 oz. lye into a paper cup. Use a stainless steel bowl, again being sure to have one for making soap only and not to be used for food. Add 3 cups of goats milk and slowly add the lye. Mix this with an old hand mixer set aside for soap making. This will cause a chemical reaction that makes the mixture hot and causes the milk to turn golden. Let the mixture cool to 85 degrees. A dairy thermometer can be used to check the temperature. 4. Mix together 2 oz. of glycerin, 1 cup of baby oatmeal and 2 tsp. of borax. Add this to the fat and then add the mixture to the lye and milk. Use the mixer for 15 minutes and then let the soap mixture rest for 5 minutes. Mix again for 5 minutes and let rest again for another 5 minutes. Keep doing this until the soap noticeably changes consistency. 5. Pour the soap mixture into the molds. Cover the top of the molds with a cloth such as cheesecloth. Keep the soap at a constant room temperature for 24 hours. 6. Peel off cloth and take soap out of molds. If using a big mold, cut into bar-sized pieces. Let the soap cure by air-drying it for a month to 6 weeks before using or giving away.
