1 Main Changes since Last Revision

Case studies are no more in the worksheet 'CaseList' and are combined with the parametric worksheet.

2 Terminology
Parameters worksheet: Main sheet, includes the Parameter Table and the Variable Lists Result worksheet: Where the results are imported Case: One row of the Parameter Table

Layout of the PARAMETERS WORKSHEET:

3 How to Start
Open a new Excel spreadsheet Open the OLGA Res.xla macro Ctrl + Shift + M o The control panel is shown:

Page 2

Button Add new TPL line: o If the Parameters sheet does not exist, it is created, with the Parameters table and an empty variable list table.

A pop-up window is shown to select a file. The selection of one OLGA file initiates the import of the Catalogue. From the Catalogue worksheet TrendCatalog, the variables of interest are copied (from column C) and paste in the Variable List table (column A).

Example of a populated variable list:

Button Import current case: Import the current line of the Parameters table Button Import all cases: Import all the lines but the coloured ones (The lines where the cell in column type is shaded in colour are not processed).

4 How to Make Charts

Add a name in the ChartName column of the Parameter table Add the same name in the Chart1 column in the Variable list table Import the case(s)

Charts can be either embedded on the worksheet Charts (option m in Options column) or on a separate chart sheet.

5 How to Compare different Profiles on the same Sheet

Use argument 'H' for all the cases except the first one.

Page 4

6 How to Append Trend Cases (e.g. for Restart Cases)

Use argument 'A' for all the cases except the first one.

7 How to Make initial Conditions

The profile outputs must be at least: PT, TM, AL, WC, GT In the Parameter table, the argument is /I It is not needed to give a variable list. In the worksheet (with the last profile), from the control panel (control shift M), button 'make initial conditions', answer as required to indicate where is the information for the geometry (an *.inp or *.geninp or *.out file). The initial conditions can be written in a file or found in the worksheet (bottom right).

8 How to Prepare Parametric Runs

Control panel: Button 'Generate parametric file'

9 How to Make Case Studies

The layout is the same as for the parametric runs, with the code "KW' in row 9. Both parametric and case studies can be combined on the same sheet.

Page 6

In the PARAMETER table, use a star in the line(s) of interest, color the other lines:

In the RESULT SHEET, write the keywords in row 3 and the formula with the corresponding value in row 4.

Control panel: Button 'Import Multi Case study'

10 How to Use the Special Functions

The special functions are used to detect one condition in a trend (e.g. when a set point is reached). The general syntax is KEYWORD a, written in the column of interest, and in either row 3, 5 or 7 (see example). KEYWORD is one of the following: TRIG TRIG_INT VAL VAL_INT LAST

The argument a is a numerical value. TRIG returns the first time step after one threshold is reached. TRIG_INT returns the interpolated time when one threshold is reached. VAL returns the first value after a given time. VAL_INT returns the interpolated value at a given time. LAST returns the last value. An example of special function case is shown below.

Page 8

The results are calculated, either by using the control panel, button special func. or automatically during import, with the option C.

11 How to Convert Units and Change Variable Title

Use option U, and input the conversion factor in column J and/or the new name in column K.
