events around 9-11 from 1215 to to 1515 Zulu.
Position of operation being recorded is position four
in severe weather which covers the whole national air
7 space system. I hereby certify that the following is
8 a true rerecording of the original recorded
9 transmissions pertaining to the events of 9-11. My
10 name is Troy Gascoin, and I'm employed as a quality
11 assurance specialist at the command center. Time now
12 is 1230 and 30 seconds. This is the first
13 transmission on this line pertaining to the events of
14 9-11.
15 UNIDENTIFIED SPEAKER: TSDII —
16 UNIDENTIFIED SPEAKER: Primary only.
17 Primary only. Wait one second, boss.
18 MALE 1: I've been trying to reach him,
19 man. I haven't been able to reach him.
20 UNIDENTIFIED SPEAKER: Well, Boston center
21 claims that they lost radio communication with the
22 aircraft and the transponder, and also, they are
23 tracking the primary target at this point. It was
24 last nine at flight level 290. He appears to have
25 turned south, southwest bound and. And also, there

1 was some mention of some sort of a threat being made
2 or, a threat to the cockpit or a threat and, in the
3 cockpit. Boston is uncertain exactly what was said.
4 I guess they are going to try to pull the tapes as
5 quick as they can.

5 eyewitness. That came from air traffic. Radar.

7 UNIDENTIFIED SPEAKER: The west side just
8 got hit by a vehicle. The Pentagon. The Pentagon.

10 about FAA -- Pentagon we got an eyewitness report.

13 in the vicinity of Pittsburgh or west of Pittsburgh
14 and the aircraft is starting its descent now and
15 nobody has had contact with that aircraft.

17 Pittsburgh. It's in a descent. They are having
18 contact with the aircraft. They said they heard
19 screaming and they heard bomb in their radio
20 transmission. No contact with air traffic control.
21 There is a report at 9:40. At 9:39 a.m. an aircraft
22 crashing into the west side of the Pentagon. No
23 further details. We also had a report at 9:36 of
24 aircraft moving towards (INAUDIBLE).

12 aircraft, requesting clearance to JFK. They can't

14 now. They are trying to confirm it's presidential.

9 confirmed hijacking.

16 we are getting indications from Cleveland the
17 aircraft is being hijacked.

2 that information. Here's the next two bits of
3 information. 1012, all in-bound international
4 flights are being diverted to Canada. That's at
5 1012.

18 permission for the fighters to launch to escort the

7 need a question answered about deportation. This is
8 Atlantic City airport. We have got Coast Guard here.
9 Coast Guard may need, okay, forget, Coast Guard may
10 need to get out on rescue mission. Who do they
11 coordinate with before they get out?
12 UNIDENTIFIED SPEAKER: This is the air
13 traffic command center in Herndon. We were advised
14 by headquarters in FAA that military, law enforcement
15 and support and search and rescue can go. Just go to
16 the appropriate traffic facility for whatever
17 operation they need to conduct but they are not as
18 prior FAA TACNET.

20 told before so military or air guard scramble for,
21 they are to go, if Coast Guard needs to go out on a
22 rescue, they are okay, correct?
