MORRIS TOWNSHIP POLICE OFFICER CLAY BOENINGHAUS HANOVER TOWNSHIP POLICE OFFICER PAUL GUNDERSDORF Received the DISTINGUISHED

SERVICE AWARD from ASIS International

May 14, 2013

On July 14, 2012, the Hanover Township Police received a report of a home invasion. The intruder entered the residence by using the garage remote located in the victim's vehicle, which was parked in her driveway. The homeowner was confronted by the actor when she entered her kitchen. She was told he wasn't there to harm her, and that he just wanted to take possession of her vehicle that was in the driveway. He instructed the victim to go with him, through her garage out to her car, and to get into her vehicle. The victim was able to lock the car doors before the actor could enter her vehicle, and the repeated sounding of her car horn sent the actor running. Patrolman Paul Gundersdorf responded to that area and set up a perimeter in the neighborhood of Academy Drive East. Ptl. Gundersdorf assisted the Morris County Sheriffs K-9 Officer as they searched the wooded area behind the homes. A passing motorist reported seeing the suspect running into the backyard of a home on Cedar Knolls Road. Ptl. Gundersdorf responded to the new location, and was joined by Ptl. Clay Boeninghaus from the Morris Township Police Department. They observed the suspect in the rear of that property, and began a foot pursuit. The suspect was ordered to halt, but he continued running in the wooded yards of area homes. The suspect was caught in an area of heavy brush, where he was handcuffed and searched. Following the arrest, a survey of the area by the officers located stolen property from the home invasion. The suspect, 26 year old Nisees Ingram of Irvington, was a Wanted Person by the NJ State Parole Board and had a criminal history of numerous arrests including thirteen felony convictions. He was charged with burglary to a motor vehicle, possession of burglary tools, kidnapping, theft of moveable property, hindering apprehension, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin).

Ptl. Paul Gundersdorf and Ptl. Clay Boeninghaus receiving the Distinguished Service Award from ASIS NJ Security Professionals Organization on May 14, 2013.
