WELCOME TO PEACE WITH CHRIST

LUTHERAN CHURCH!

We give thanks to God that you are joining us today!

Many of our guests are seeking a home church where they
can be part of the Fellowship of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Peace with Christ is a congregation that is a family not an
“organization”. We are small enough to allow people to
know each other by name, and yet large enough to offer
opportunities for growth and service. What we “specialize”
in is not programs or productions, but simply The Gospel
of Our Lord Jesus. Christ, His Word, and the Cross are
what provide the foundation for faith and ministry. If you
are interested in learning more about Peace With Christ
Lutheran Church, please call the church office at 226-4721.
Pastor Patrick would welcome the opportunity to visit with
you personally.
THE TIME before the service may be used for prayer and preparation.
Read through the worship bulletin and familiarize yourself with the service.
A few moments spent this way will help make the service more meaningful.

NEXT WEEK’S LUTHERAN HOUR MESSAGE:

“A Reasonable Request” Speaker: Rev. Dr. Ken
Klaus. Sounds simple enough. But are there hidden
nuances behind a request? (John 20:25) Listen to The
Lutheran Hour Message on KOA, Denver (AM850) at
6:00 a.m. and KFKA, Greeley (AM1310) at 9:30 a.m.

Peace With Christ Radio Broadcast: KCOL (600AM), at 9:00

AM Sundays.

*******************************************************

On this glorious day of Resurrection we wish to welcome

all of you to Peace With Christ Lutheran Church. Easter is
much much more than just one day of celebration, it is an
ongoing observation in the lives of the redeemed. We
would warmly invite all of our guests to worship with us
again, and to become part of the Body of Christ here at
Peace With Christ. Please feel free to speak with one of
our members or with Pastor Patrick if you would like to
find out more about this Christian community at Peace
With Christ.

During Easter our messages will be centered around this

Theme: “The Gifts of Easter”.

April 19—“The Gift of Forgiveness.”

April 26—“The Gift of Opened Minds”
May 3—“The Gift of Pastors”
May 10—“The Gift of Love”
May 17—“The Gift of Bearing Fruit”
May 24—“The Gift of The Truth.”
May 31—“The Gift of The Holy Spirit”

It is our joy and privilege to proclaim this Good News of

Salvation in Christ Jesus with you.
LWML April Meeting
LWML’s annual Salad Supper and Prayer Service entitled “Look to the
Hills” will be held Monday, April 20th at 6pm in our fellowship hall.
Hostesses for the salad supper will be Cheryl Harsen, Barb Prenzlow,
Bev Russman, and Marge Westhoff. Norma Thaemert and Angela
Myers will lead the Prayer Service. Lutheran women from neighboring
congregations have been invited to join us for this inspiring (and deli-
cious!) event. Bring a friend and one salad per two ladies!

The Northern Zone LWML Spring Workshop entitled “Those who wait
on the Lord will find new strength,” will be hosted by Mt Zion Lu-
theran Church in Boulder on Saturday, May 2nd. This workshop,
from 9-1:30pm, will include a bible study, brunch and a presenta-
tion on the Dakota Boys & Girls Ranch. If you are interested in
attending, please add your name to the sign up sheet posted on
LWML’s bulletin board by April 19th so we can RSVP.

If 2009’s LWML bazaar is as successful as 2008, we will net $6k. Last

I heard, only 1 nomination had been received. We would LOVE to
support someone YOU know who is pursuing a vocation in mission
or church work. There are only 3 days left to get your nominee to
Bev Russman (mailbox #151). The bazaar grant recipient(s) will be
determined by a vote (if needed) at our May 11th meeting.

“The next regular LWML Executive Board meeting is Monday, April

27th beginning at 6pm in the home of Norma Thaemert. All ladies
are welcome!

LWML’s historian and shutterbug, Hazel Maiorka, has been taking

photographs of our activities with a film camera for many years. The
purchase of film and developing is costly, however, and we would love
to switch to a simple little digital camera. Before we spend any money
on a new camera, we thought we should ask… Have you recently up-
graded your technology? Is your old digital camera at home collecting
dust? If so, we have a great new purpose for it! See Bev Russman or
Linda Siegfried if you can help.

A READING FROM THE BOOK OF CONCORD
RESURRECTION OF THE LORD
LARGE CATECHISM
PART II, APOSTLES' CREED
In [the Devil's] place has come Jesus Christ, Lord of life,
righteousness, every blessing, and salvation. He has delivered
us poor, lost people from hell's jaws, has won us, has made us
free, and has brought us again into the Father's favor and
grace. He has taken us as His own property under His shelter
and protection so that He may govern us by His righteousness,
wisdom, power, life, and blessedness.

The little word Lord means simply the same as redeemer. It

means the One who has brought us from Satan to God, from
death to life, from sin to righteousness, and who preserves us. All
the points that follow in this article serve no other purpose
than to explain and express this redemption. They explain how
and by whom it was accomplished. They explain how much it
cost Him and what He spent and risked so that He might win us
and bring us under His dominion. It explains that He became
man, was conceived and born without sin, from the Holy Spirit
and from the virgin Mary, so that He might overcome sin. Fur-
ther, it explains that He suffered, died, and was buried so that He
might make satisfaction for me and pay what I owe [1 Cor.
15:3-4] with His own precious blood. And He did all this in
order to become my Lord. He did none of these things for
Himself, nor did He have any need for redemption. After that He
rose again from the dead, swallowed up and devoured death [1
Cor. 15:54]. (paragraphs 30-31)

Luther Quote: “To be sure, children are brought to Baptism by

the faith and work of others; but when they get there and the pas-
tor or baptizer deals with them in Christ’s stead, it is He who
blesses them and grants them faith and the kingdom of heaven.”

Uganda – Apr. 1-15

LCMS World Mission began work in Uganda in 1995 as part of a
regional East Africa strategy. In partnership with the Evangelical
Lutheran Church of Ghana, LCMS World Mission supports lead-
ership training to equip evangelists and pastors throughout East
Africa, where the Lutheran church has seen explosive growth.

Daily Prayers:

Sunday: For the three Ugandan vicars who are completing their
six-month vicarage, and will be ordained in June 2009, bringing
the number of Ugandan pastors up to four!
Monday: For the work and the employees of Lutheran Media Minis-
tries, which is part of the international ministry of Lutheran Hour Min-
istries. This ministry reaches out through radio and television, has a
program where Christian films are shown in villages where most of the
population is illiterate, offers a Bible correspondence course through
the mail, and offers counseling services.
Tuesday: For Lutheran Christians to be a light to those who are still
suffering the effects of the devastation that took place under the Amin
and Obote presidencies in the 1970s and 80s. Much of the social and
economic framework of the country was destroyed during these years.
Pray that the Lord would continue to provide peace in Uganda, and that
any continuing uncertainty would lead Ugandans to find hope in Christ.
Wednesday: For Lutherans to also address the HIV/AIDS problem in
Uganda with love and mercy, ministering to those who are HIV-
positive in the name of Jesus by caring for them physically and spiritu-
ally.

Campus Ministry – Apr. 16-23

Of the 17 million students on college an university campuses in the
United States, more than 70 percent have no church affiliation.

Thursday: For all U.S. colleges and universities, which are extraordi-
nary mission fields. LCMS campus ministries currently serve only
about 25 percent of the nation’s 3,700 campuses. Ask the Lord to in-
crease the number of campuses served by the LCMS, so that many
more college students, faculty, and staff may receive saving faith in
Jesus Christ.
Friday: For the Lutheran Campus Mission Association (LCMA),
which provides training and other resources to help LCMS districts and
congregations start new, revive dormant, and expand existing campus
mission ministries. Pray that LCMA, as part the Ablaze! movement,
will reach its goal of sharing Christ with 4.5 million college students,
faculty, staff, and administrators by 2017.
Saturday: For Rev. Greg Fairow, who serves through LCMS World
Mission, in partnership with the Lutheran Campus Mission Association,
as the campus mission catalyst. Greg leads local ministries through an
intentional, strategic process to help them see what the Lord wants them
to do on campus.
