Manual Transmission Developed to complement the high performance engine, the six-speed close ratio manual transmission provides an optimal gear for every situation and the rod selector linkage coupled with the synchroniser system allow accurate and reliable gear selection. The six-speed manual transmission also features an innovative system known as multi-mode Drivers Control Centre Differential (DCCD). DCCD allows you to control the centre Limited Slip Differential depending on the road conditions and your driving style. > Auto mode provides optimum handling, traction and all round performance. > Auto (-) mode provides sharp handling performance suited to dry conditions. > Auto (+) mode optimises overall traction suited to wet, slippery conditions. > Manual mode lets you choose the perfect setting for your driving style. Automatic Transmission The five-speed automatic transmission utilises a Variable Torque Distribution centre differential that sets a drive split of 45 percent / 55 percent front to rear to ensure greater balance and control. Choose full automatic mode or manual mode using the paddle gear shift on the steering column. Additionally, the five-speed automatic transmission interacts with SI-DRIVE to tailor the gear changes and responsiveness of the WRX STI to the drivers needs. Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-DRIVE) SI-DRIVE is standard in both manual and automatic transmission models and is designed to regulate key engine functions to offer three distinctive driving modes in the one car. For manual models it regulates the engine control unit and the electronic throttle, whilst in automatic models it also regulates the transmission control unit.
