The clinical picture is dominated by relatively stable, often paranoid, delusions, usually accompanied by hallucinations, particularly of the auditory variety, and perceptual disturbances. Disturbances of affect, volition, and speech, and catatonic symptoms, are not prominent.
Symptoms
* Auditory hallucinations, such as hearing voices * Delusions, such as believing a co-worker wants to poison you * Anxiety * Anger * Emotional distance * Violence * Argumentativeness * Self-important or condescending manner * Suicidal thoughts and behavior
Causes:
Paranoid schizophrenia is one of the five types of schizophrenia with characteristics specific to paranoid delusions and hallucinations. The exact cause of paranoid schizophrenia remains unknown but scientific evidence suggests that genetics, chemical imbalance in the body and damaged brain regions may be factors that contribute to the development of the disorder.

Theres no sure way to prevent paranoid schizophrenia. Evidence shows that some signs of schizophrenia may be present from early childhood or even infancy. Early identification and treatment for people at risk of schizophrenia, perhaps starting in childhood, may help get symptoms under control before serious complications develop and may help improve the longterm outlook. Also, sticking with your treatment plan can help prevent relapses or worsening of paranoid schizophrenia symptoms
