Exploring
and
Sharing
Spanish
Culture
through
Digital
Technology

This
course
mixes
learning
about
Spanish
culture
with
learning
how
to
digitally
share
information
in

multiple
media.
Students
will
explore
a
variety
of
aspects
of
culture
through
reading,
writing,
lectures,

discussion,
and
firsthand
experiences.
They
will
explore
Toledo
in
class,
online
and
on
foot,
learning

about
tourism,
music,
and
more.
A
central
part
of
the
course
will
call
on
each
student
to
investigate
a

single
area
in
greater
depth.
They
will
digitally
record
their
knowledge
and
experiences,
and
then
share

them
with
fellow
students
(in
class)
and
with
the
world
(on
the
Web).

Class
topics
will
include
techniques
for
digital
photography
and
audio
recording,
as
well
has
how
to

publish
work
online.
Areas
that
may
be
explored
include
art,
music,
food,
religion,
sports,
movies,

television,
tourism,
education,
and
technology.
Living
in
Spain
allows
students
to
directly
experience

cultural
phenomena
such
as
tapas,
bullfighting,
flamenco,
and
paradors,
Students
must
bring
a
laptop

computer
and
digital
camera,
and
will
purchase
an
audio
recorder
for
the
course.

For
Notre
Dame
students,
it
is
expected
that
this
course
will
be
listed
as
a
section
of
ROSP
27500,

“Approaches
to
Hispanic
Cultures
Through
Writing,”
for
which
the
prerequisite
is:
ROSP
20202,
20211,

20215
or
placement
by
exam.
