UK Teaching Agencies Likely To Create Own Standards After Abolishment Of Quality Mark

Making headlines recently were all the news about the abolishment of the UK teaching industrys Quality Mark. A lot of organisations were against it and openly expressed their concern over the impact of this move on the quality of supply teachers who will find placement in schools throughout the country. Many believe that without the Quality Mark, there will be some serious negative effects on the quality of education in learning institutions as well as the safety of students. The Quality Mark was a joint initiative of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation and the Department for Education. It took effect over ten years ago and it established minimum standards for UK teaching agencies as well as the local authorities for the recruitment process (like their procedures for interviews and vetting placing staff in schools, et cetera) of supply teachers and even other school employees. Theres a move to develop a new audit scheme, but currently, no replacement scheme has been determined yet even after the dialogue held early April 2013, and this worries concerned groups and parents even more. According to Becca Morgan, the director of one of Yorks supply agencies, It is of great concern to me that there is no planned replacement scheme and that this retrograde step leaves the teaching industry and children in our schools vulnerable and at the mercy of unscrupulous cowboy businesses. Groups of parents seconded Morgan. But the present situation among teaching agencies is not that worrisome. In the meantime, a lot of them are inclined to follow the former set of standards until they can design their own to implement. There also some UK teaching agencies that see this change as a positive opportunity for them to upgrade and design their own qualification standards, not only to maintain the quality of teachers they supply to the countrys schools, but also to further improve it. Its bound to be a lot of work, but these agencies are committed to maintain the trust their client schools have in their ability to supply them with teachers who have good moral character and impressive credentials. Check out more about this here.

The fact remains, however, that this would prompt schools to be more discriminating in their selection of supply teachers as substandard teaching agencies are likely to proliferate due to the abolishment of the Quality Mark. With childrens safety and quality of education on the line, it requires the combined efforts of schools and teaching agencies to minimise the effect of the Quality Mark abolishment.

Being Hired For High Quality Teaching Jobs

There arent many careers as noble as those in education; after all, how learned members of the next generation turn out to be is in a teachers hands. Thats definitely no trifling matter. If youre determined to answer this particular calling in life, you have to make sure that you put yourself through the proper training and qualification process. As soon as youve accomplished this, you can then start seeking teaching jobs. Many people have the misguided notion that teaching is boring. They associate it too much with their experience in school that they refuse to give it a chance. Also, the common misconception that teachers are poorly paid contribute to their aversion to the idea of going into teaching. But no matter. In any case, teaching jobs should definitely fall upon individuals of a higher mind, and not upon those who do not have the depth to understand the noble nature of an educators work. To set the record straight, however, teaching makes an excellent career choice. It involves a setup that is so unique that you have to be certified to work in it. A teachers job is both inspiring and influential. Thats a great deal of power and privilege to have, but as a Spiderman movie quote goes, With great power comes great responsibility. For this reason, not just anybody can be a teacher. While it may be true in some cases that teachers are underpaid, this is not always the case. Understandably, a teachers salary is largely based on the status and standard of the institution that gives it. The more private and exclusive the school is, the better paid the teachers are. You can also keep in mind that an academic year has scheduled long breaks; teachers naturally get to take the time off along with their students. Getting paid in full for weeks of zero to minimal work is not a shabby deal at all. If you want to know more about this, click here. Another perk that comes with being in the field of education is the opportunity to travel. With teaching vacancies abroad in abundance, trained and qualified teachers can have their pick of destination. In the case of teachers coming from a third world country, the pay is so insanely higher that many of them really opt to leave their motherland for greener pastures. As for those coming from developed countries, they can always count on openings from international schools and the like as the nature of the faculty of these institutions is pretty much transient.

Many times, teachers dont stay permanently, leaving their posts vacant for the next adventurous educator to take over. Of course, it goes without saying that while the opportunities are aplenty, teachers still need to be resourceful and assertive about their goals to find great teaching jobs. For this, they can sign up with a teaching agency that can get them hired at a good school.

Be calm and maintain eye contact even at a panel interview. It can be nerve-racking to be interviewed by a panel because you never know where to look. But keep calm and try to address your answers to the person who asked you the question. Maintain eye contact with that person until you finish the main points of your answer and then move your attention to the other members of the panel who are not making notes. When you come right to the end of your answer, return to the person who asked you the question. It is the ideal approach to emphasizing your point and a remarkable demonstration to a panel that you are able to speak well, even as a first time teacher.
