This course is an introduction to Human Resource Management. HRM involves all management decisions and actions that affect the nature of the relationship between the organisation and its employees. Effective Human Resource Management creates a win-win relationship with employees by seeking the best fit between organisational and individual goals. The focus of the course is on the various human resource policies as recruitment, selection, performance management, rewards, staffing and development. Students will get insight into the basic challenges, approaches and tools within these fields.

Learning Outcomes: On completion of the module, students will: Understand the nature and role of the HRM function. Understand the main processes of employee re sourcing and development, and appreciate their contribution to organisational effectiveness. Have developed skills in the analysis of HR issues and the formulation of appropriate HRM responses. Have further developed skills in analysis, synthesis and evaluation of various HR techniques and practices

Explanation of Parameter 1 Marks will be given on the basis of capacity to reason logically, application of learning and originality as well as practicality of ideas. Explanation of Parameter 2 Cases for analysis will be distributed after the completion of 9 th week. Class will be divided into groups (depending on no. of students) and all the groups will submit groups analysis of the case as per the dead line given. Groups will have to defend their analysis in presentation. Marks will be given on the basis of identification of pertinent issues and problems, capacity to reason logically, application of learning and originality as well as practicality of ideas. All the members of the group will get same grade for written analysis. For presentation, every member of the group will be evaluated separately.
