ADMINISTRATORS NOTE S
Spring's late arrival makes it hard to believe that the pool season is only a few weeks away! I want to thank our swim lesson patrons for their patience as the Village worked with the GET School District to once again offer swim lessons at the Trempealeau Pool subsidized by the school district. This means that swim lessons will be free of charge to students in the GET District this year as in years past. More details and registration information can be found in this newsletter and online. Space and times may be limited so we can continue to offer this service in future seasons. Sam Olson and Shilo Wood will be co-managing the pool again this year with familiar guards from previous seasons and a few new faces who will all help us make 2013 another great season. We appreciate your support of the Village Pool! I would like to give everyone an update on the much anticipated possibility of a new cell phone tower coming to Trempealeau. Unfortunately Verizon has communicated to the Village through its consultant that the project is on hold. According to the consultant this happens from time to time due to many possible reasons and that the project could still happen at a later date. This does little to solve our reception issues in the near term but we did make progress on getting the site ready for a tower should something change in the future. The Village is in the process of updating the website with Vision Design. Our new site will offer simplified navigation and will be optimized to display on mobile devices like smart phones and tablets. We will also be automating more processes behind the scenes so Village business and information will be more readily available on the website. The Village Board meets on the first Monday of the month at 7 PM. If you have a concern or an item for the agenda please contact me at the Village Office, any Village Board member or come speak at open forum at the regular monthly meeting. CATFISH DAYS
POLICE BLOTTER
The Trempealeau Police Department will join hundreds of law enforcement agencies throughout Wisconsin for the annual Click It or Ticket safety belt enforcement mobilization from May 20, 2013 to June 2, 2013. Our officers will be on the lookout day and night for unbuckled motorists. If you are not wearing a safety belt, we will stop your vehicle and you will get a ticket, said Chief Rick Niedfeldt. During the Click It or Ticket mobilization and throughout the year, we stringently enforce Wisconsins mandatory safety belt law to motivate motorists to buckle up every time they drive or ride in a vehicle. Tragically, too many people are needlessly injured or killed because they believed a crash would never happen to them so they did not buckle up.
