PRONOUNS A pronoun is a word used in place of a noun. ANTECEDENTS An antecedent is the noun that the pronoun refers to or replaces.

Pronouns must agree with their antecedents. Pronouns must agree with their antecedents in number, person and gender.

A singular pronoun refers to a singular antecedent. A plural pronoun refers to a plural antecedent.
