Renee Mennen & Stefanie Keijsteren

Rens is a Dutch design duo that consist of artist Renee Mennen and Stefanie Keijsteren. They have worked together since 2008. Before that, they studied together at the School of Fine Arts and Design (AKV. St Joost ) in Breda, the Netherlands. When working together, they are inspired by shapes, sizes and proportions. Their friendship is the main thing of them working together in which their passion, impulsiveness and pertness come together. Their designs have been featured on Trend Tablet, Elle,MocoLoco and Design Boom. They have done several different projects which they have collaborated with Lynfabrikken on The Box, Van Eijk and Van der Lubbe on Gradient Red, Vij5 and Mieke Newspaper Wood Sample Serie and with Newspaper Wood Toonkast

They have eight different collections including their latest, ROOD which is a clothes collection that isconnected by the color red. They use different shades from dark to light to form a pallet which is determined by a combination of raw materials. One of their most famous collectionsare Kopje Kopje, which are inspired by puppetsas the remember from their youth. They use characters in their designs such as theprincess and little red riding hood. The collection Sjaalgerei is fabric made out of tea towel, so that it becomes a scarf and a towel because of the patterns used. They were inspired by the textile weaving machine with this made up of only one drawer collection. Langpootkast is a cabinet that isWith this design, the user has to
make a conscious decision about what they want to put away. Copperlegs is a clock that gives time and place in space. The clock shows an imprint of the frame to make sure they remain connected together, even though they are physically separated. Every year, Renee Mennen and Stefanie Keijsteren present their work at the Salonde del Mobile in Milano, this is always a high light in their work during the fair in Eindhoven Dutch Design Week (The Netherlands). Rens decided to go in the design fieldbecause their freedom is a very important source of inspiration. Renee Mennen said that you should do what you prefer to do the best thing in life.

2004 Renee Mennen and Stefanie van Keijstern attended AKV. St Joost
School of Fine Art and Design in Breda, Netherlands.

2008 Renee Mennen and Stefanie van Keijstern graduated from AKV.
St Joost with a bachelor in product design and thenfounded Dutch design studios rENs. Their first designs were Kopje Kopje and Sjaalgerei collections.

2009 The tulipwood & brass collection Langpookast was released. 2010 The ceramic collection Mctea was released. The tulipwood and
brass collection Lichtvoet as also released.

2011 The birch plywood lamp collection 8mmand Copperlegs was


released. Also rENS collaborated with designer Mieke Meijer on Newspaperwood Toonkast and Newspaperwood sampleserie projects.

2012 The Rood garment collection was released with a website that
explains the entire story of every single piece. RENs collaborated with Van Eijk and Van der Lubbe with the Gradient Red project and Lynfabrikkens The Box project.

This Folio was designed and handmade by Rickitta Armstrong using white and red 67lb cardstock paper. The typeface was set in 8pt Helvetica CY plain and bold.
