Press release Embargoed until 14th May 2013 London, UK HomeTouch releases digital care-at-home service to UK market HomeTouch,

a new service targeted at busy families with elderly relatives who wish to stay independent at home, will be showcasing its technology at the Homecare House of the Future event, 14th May 2013. The service has undergone consumer trials and pilots with leading care providers in early 2013, following release to selected partners in January. HomeTouch is backed by global healthcare accelerator Healthbox, which includes strategic partners BUPA, Bayer and Serco. HomeTouch was founded by Dr Jamie Wilson, a former NHS dementia physician who saw that many families caring for elderly relatives with early memory decline were not eligible for state support but could benefit from a digital solution. HomeTouchs purpose is twofold: firstly, to enable older people to become less isolated, more active and less dependent, and secondly to provide families/care providers with the tools to monitor and support care anytime/anywhere. HomeTouch provides a software-as-a-service where users pay a fee of 39/month. The platform contains three linked components:1) a tablet application for older people with basic services services including messaging, videocall, calendar and photo album, 2) smartphone and desktop applications for family and carers with dashboard analytics and services configuration and 3) an intelligent server which monitors activity and manages communication between the two applications. According to the OECD, the UK has the highest rate of eldercare responsibilities in EU. Approximately 1 millions families across the UK could benefit from the service. Dr Jamie Wilson, CEO of HomeTouch said We are excited to be showcasing our technology at the Homecare House of the Future. We know that the combination of an aging population, increased dependency ratios and reduced state expenditure demand new solutions and today we have started on that journey with an innovative service that can improve care provision and extend independence in the home. -ends-
