: 1st :1 : 1st -5th April 2013 : The first week in SK (P) Pudu 1

For my first day of practicum, my partner and I went to the office and the first person that we met is Madam Ismawati Bt Ali the GPK tadbir and kurikulum. We met her to give the letters of practicum because the headmistress of the school was not around. GPK gave a short briefing about the school, made arrangement for the timetable and the activities in school. I have been given ten periods for my major subject which is TESL. I need to teach both KSSR and KBSR classes compromising year 3 and year 4. Madam Ismawati then introduced us to our cooperating teacher, Madam Fatimah Binti Mohd. Zain. I met her for a moment because she had important meeting to attend. Then the GPK brought me to the teachers room to be introduced to teachers and staffs. After that, I entered Year 3 Orkid as I already got the timetable. It was an ice-breaking session with the pupils. It helped me to get to know them as I will teach them for my practicum. On my second day, I joined the Science and Mathematics club (SEMAT) for my co-curricular activity. The clubs advisors who are Madam Rahimawati Bt. Ibrahim and Sir Mohd Yusof B. Lakiti welcomed me in friendly manner. They explained the club and how it was conducted in this school. Then, I went to the hall for the daily assembly where the GPK will update the new information regarding the next coming school activities. At 2.00pm, I met my cooperating teacher. She gave me the guidance and explained to me about the timetable, the curriculum specification, differences between KSSR and KBSR. After that, she kindly offered me to enter and observe her teaching for Year 3 so that I get the ideas on how to carry out my lesson in future. On my third day, the school started early as it had uniformed units day. I was in Tunas Kadet Remaja Sekolah (TKRS). It was the first time for me to be in this uniformed unit as I was Persatuan Puteri Islam Malaysia (PPIM)s member when I

was in the college. I realised that there were many differences in conducting TKRS and PPIM, so I need to do some studies for TKRS. Then I entered Year 4 with my cooperating teacher to do another observation on the teaching and learning activities. This helps me to guide me for preparing my future lesson plan for Year 4. Then I started to prepare my next week lesson plans. On my fourth day, the schooling started with the co-curricular activities for sport and games. I chose to be a part of the Badminton club. After the gathering ended, I met my cooperating teacher for the lesson plan consultation. She checked my lesson plan and corrected where necessary. At 2.00pm, I started to teach my first English lesson for Year 3 Orkid according to what i have planned. I was very nervous because I need to teach grammar lesson. It was my first experience conducting a grammar lesson in the real classroom. Gratefully the pupils were paying attention. They were good in giving cooperation and participated in the activities that I was conducted. They were very excited. At 4.50pm, I entered Year 5 to relief class for Islamic and Moral Education. I carried out games for them suited to their syllabus by referring to the text book. The relief class ended at 5.50pm. Before the schooling session ends, I was told that we will be having a meeting on this Monday at 10.30am. The attendance is compulsory for each teacher.
