Northern Senior Academy

The Northern Senior Academy (NSA) is a program that has been designed to mirror Northern Junior Academy. The NSA is a very important NEW program that I hope will be well supported by many GNLM and GNLW players. The NSA will create a squad of elite players from the GNL competition to gather together and train on a semi-regular basis. The skills and knowledge learnt during the NSA sessions can then be filtered back to club sessions to enable further development of club teams. The NSA is aimed at senior players who are looking to develop their skill set and knowledge of the game of hockey. If you have or looking at nominating for a state side these training sessions will aid in that process, especially if you consider yourself a fringe player. Alternatively, if you are looking for some extra high intensity training sessions, the NSA will suit your needs. Although we are asking for nominations, there will also be an additional selection process once nominations are closed. Players displaying the attributes of the NSA may also be invited to join the squad. Potential NSA athletes should aim for: Selection in a Tasmanian/state team Tasmanian/State Train-On or shadow squad member Becoming a leader amongst their peers Displays characteristics/ability of a state team player

NSA Training Outline

TRAINING Start date to be determined St. Leonards H.C.- Wednesday 7pm - 8pm Frequency will be every second Wednesday from early June. There will be a nominal cost per session to cover turf hire, TBA dependant on NSA Squad size.

Selection Criteria
The basis of the selection criteria is as follows: Performance at local club competition Technical skill execution Tactical nous and execution Fitness and athletic ability Potential to improve and demonstrated application to training Coachability Age eligibility Open

Selection will be determined by the Northern Development Officer (DO) and the selection panel, which will be formed closer to the program start date. All athletes are subjected to continual evaluation by Northern DO Matthew McGregor based on the NSA squad criteria. If you would like to nominate to participate in the NSA, please contact Matthew McGregor.
