will be representing Australia in
the outdoor hockey tournament
at the Australian Youth Olympic
Festival which begins today at
Sydney Olympic Park Hockey
Centre (January 17-21).
Facing Great Britain, Malaysia
and China for the honour of be-
ing crowned the winner, Keiran
and Matthew have a combined
experience of around 30 years
which will prove to be of vital
help on the field.
Keiran, 18, has been playing
hockey for 14 years and plays
for the Burwood Briars at club
level.

Since overcoming a broken
nose and a dislocated hip, he
continues to put the hours into
both the on field training and the
long hours required at the gym
to keep up his fitness.
“It’s pretty full on and commit-
ting the hours is important and
to have the motivation to win
and succeed. We train all year
round and if you are not com-
mitted to all year training its just
not going to happen. I began the
sport when I was four because

Matthew, 19, who is originally
