HVAC LOAD CALCULATION

HVAC SYSTEM DESCRIPTION: Air conditioning systems for Medical Hospital are designed for constant and variable air volume application to maintain the required desired indoor temperature and environmental condition under all outdoor ambient conditions. HVAC design calculations is provided as per ASHRAE Standards. Each zone of every floor shall be airconditioned by chilled Air handling and fan coil units with independent temperature control. The operating theatres, laboratories , isolation , I.C.U. and other related critical rooms shall be 100 % supply and exhaust at neutral space pressure. The bedwards, treatmenrt and consulting rooms / areas shall be airconditioned by percentage exhaust air to achieve and air change within by using central exhaust duct system. A direct ventilation system will be applied in stores, toilets, utility rooms , etc. A central duct system in each zone were applied . SYSTEM OPERATION: NORMAL MODE: Each AHU, FAHU, and Fan coil units has its individual thermostat to control the room temperature both in cooling and heating mode . A control diagrams are shown on drawings . Main unit control will be interlocked to Fire alarm control system. SYSTEM DESIGN CRITERIA: For calculating air-conditioning load of each zone a room by room basis were applied to achieve a conservative results. Cooling load calculations were done by using ELITE Software program and other design parameters were taken from ASHRAE Standards . AIR CONDITIONED ZONES: Keeping in view with the Standard Technical requirements, all areas / rooms will be maintained @ 24 -/+ 2 oC , 50 % RH , except in non-critical areas which range from 24 to 26 oC . FRESH AIR REQUIREMENTS: The fresh air requirements in every rooms or areas are based on number of person @ 8 L/S each. For non- critical areas , 0.15 to 0.25 L/s per square meter. All the fresh air requirements for patient Bed Rooms, I.C.U and other rooms or area are pre- treated by Fresh Air Air handling units ( FAHU ) as per design layout. Said units handle 100% fresh air. SPACE PRESSURIZATION : The Hospital building will be maintained an standard pressurization of 5%,minimum as per ASHRAE Standard in order to offset infiltrations during stormy outdoor condition .

CHILLED WATER SYSTEM : The Hospital building will be air conditioned by chilled water system which consists of an Aircooled Water chillers , 5- Nos. ( 4-duty & 1- standby ). , Air handling units to serve from ground floor up to Third floor rooms and areas. In consideration for sound levels all AHUs are located in mechanical room of Basement-1 . All Bed wards will be serve by mini concealed / ducted chilled water Fan coil units with independent Control. The fresh air requirements of all FCUS will be handled by Fresh Air Handling Units (FAHU) to be located in roof level. This design scheme of pre- treatment of fresh air of each Fan Coil unit lessen its cooling load. The chilled water piping system is divided into 3- piping loop with common supply and return header. A primary chilled water circulating pumps serve for total chiller total cooling capacity to handle the Total cooling load of the hospital. In left wing , the secondary chilled water pump will serve all the FCU from third to eight floor and five ( 5 ) FAHU . In the right wing, another secondary chilled water Pump will serve the FCUs from third to eight floor and FAHUS plus the two (2) AHUS .The third piping loop with another secondary chilled water pump to serve all AHUS in Basement-1 .
