VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR JOB DESCRIPTION

Reports to: Social Ministry Division Director PURPOSE: The Volunteer Program is responsible for the provision of support and Assistance to the programs and services of CCAN by recruiting, screening, Matching and monitoring appropriate volunteers. SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Identify need for volunteers by communicating with all agency-wide programs. Solicit volunteers through internal and external sources. Set up written guidelines and administrative processes to bring volunteers into the organization; i.e., volunteer application, interview procedure, reference checks, filing system, etc. Organize and maintain a data base with all pertinent information for all volunteers, i.e., skills, locations, interests, service dates, activities/assignments, availability, etc. Conduct orientations for new volunteers. Establish reporting or supervisory roles regarding volunteer responsibilities. When a volunteer is assigned to a program, a program contact should be established so that the volunteer remains connected to the Agency and its needs. Maintain and follow the Policies and Procedures regarding Volunteers. Establish recognition levels and events to acknowledge services provided. Provide training/consultations to staff supervisors regarding effective utilization of volunteers. Recruit and coordinate efforts of student interns. Maintain the Management Information System of the Office of Volunteers. Possess good organization and planning skills.

LIST INDEPENDENT DECISIONS MADE: Accepting/rejecting volunteers and interns. Scheduling assignments. CONFIDENTIAL DATA POSITION USES OR HAS ACCESS TO: Personal information re volunteers/student interns (from application, Drivers license, references, etc.). Information on clients served. TYPE AND PURPOSE OF CONTACT WITH OTHERS: Community resources (churches, town officials, colleges, schools, universities, etc.). Agency personnel, and customers. Corporate representatives. MINIMAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION: Bachelors degree. MINIMUM PRIOR EXPERIENCE FOR THIS POSITION: 3 years administrative experience in a not-for-profit volunteer (and/or student intern program). MISCELLANEOUS EXPERIENCE: Must be flexible. Valid and current New Jersey drivers license.
