Learning situation In the Republic of Japan elementary school, Ana and Yamamoto often eat snacks between meals, and they always eat many sweet products and fast food. However, They dont eat fruits and vegetables, and they usually have stomach ache because They dont have a balanced diet according to the nutritional pyramid. Ana and Yamamoto ask advice to their friend called Eduardo, and he didnt give any advice to them because he doesnt know much about that topic.

Generating questions How can we help Ana and Yamamoto to improve their nutrition and health?

v Identifies and analyzes healthy food by its content; plans a role play about the healthy food and values the food pyramid.

ACTIVITY N 1: SURVEY AND ALBUM What is the nutritional pyramid? What food do you often eat when you have breakfast, lunch and dinner? 1. Students will do a survey about the food that your friends or classmates eat in different meals by asking the question above. Write down the answers in piece of paper and compare them by finding out the similarities among peoples habits. If you dont know the name of the food in English, please check the following websites:

ACTIVITY N3 Power point presentation Why is important to follow the nutritional pyramid? 1.Students will watch a video about the nutritional pyramid on the following website: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vV_DcnnPmX4&feature=relmfu ACTIVITY N4 PHOTO STORY VIDEO 1. Students will perform the following story: In one remote kingdom, there are many vegetables, fruits and animals who participate in a world contest to see who is the most powerful for the humans nutrition. So, the beet gets together with the several vegetables such as celery, garlic and tomato in the palace of the vegetables. Furthermore, the fruits such as the pineapple, apple, papaya, melon and orange also meet themselves in the palace of the fruits Besides the animals such as the turkey, hen, cock, cow, pig and the duck get together in the barn. All of them are going to participate in the contest of the most nutritious being for humans. So, in the Baru Volcano, it is held the contest and the judges are five human beings. Consequently, the vegetables, the fruits and the animals discuss about their benefits for human beings, and the members of the jury choose the orange as the best nutritious food. Finally, the orange is crowned by the member s of the jury and it wins 2 million dollars 2. Students will be divided into groups of 5 students. They should present a role play about the food pyramid and make a photo story by using windows photo story program.

2 .In groups of 5 students, they will choose one group of food of the nutritional pyramid and make a power point presentation about it and talk about its importance.
