Presidents Address
Dear Friends and Colleagues, Last year I wrote about Autodesks 3D scanning app, 123D Catch, and I have an update. Along with Autodesks 2014 product announcements, Autodesk announced ReCap Studio and ReCap Photo; a pair of 3D scanning apps to create intelligent 3D models from laser scans and captured photos using the power of cloud computing. The apps are ideal for designers, engineers and architects allowing us to add, modify, validate and document our design process in context from existing environments. The first app, ReCap Studio, allows users to clean, organize, and visualize massive datasets captured from reality. The second, ReCap Photo, allows users to create high-resolution textured 3D models using photos. 3D scanning has been around for almost a decade now, the important thing to note here is that these services are now becoming available to everyone and this is the only technology out there that provides quality and scalability capable of handling extremely large data sets. Think about the possibilities of capturing an entire downtown area or even a city in 3D.

Infrastructure Design Suites Modules Released! The following modules for the Infrastructure Design Suites 2014 have been released on Subscription center. Autodesk Bridge Module 2014 enables users to create bridge models based on critical geometry in the Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D corridor model and existing ground surface. Autodesk Rail Layout Module 2014 provides functionality to place and edit track turnout geometry from a configurable library, on AutoCAD Civil 3D alignments. Autodesk Geotechnical Module 2014 is designed to integrate geotechnical data with AutoCAD Civil 3D 2014 and provides the ability to build and manage complex Civil 3D surfaces and profiles in geotechnical data into BIM workflows Logon to Subscription Center here

CADsoft is now offering an AutoCAD Professional Certification Exam Prep Class. The AutoCAD 2013 Certified Professional exam is aimed at assessing Professional users knowledge of the tools, features, and common tasks of AutoCAD 2013. This course will cover the exam which is comprised of 35 questions, of which the majority requires you to use AutoCAD to create or modify a data file, and then type your answer into an input box. Other question types include multiple choice, matching, and point-and click. Class is scheduled for June 20th 21st. If you are interested, contact
