Revised EL Authorization language and Program Standard references A. learn how to plan and differentiate instruction based on student assessment data and diverse learning needs of the full range of learners (e.g., struggling readers, students with special needs, EL of varied proficiency levels, educational and cultural backgrounds, speakers of non-dominant varieties of English, and advanced learners. MS/SS: 6, 7A/B, 8B(d), 11, 12, 13;EdSpec: 9, 10, 14 B. learn to analyze and articulate the language and literacy demands inherent in content area instruction for EL (e.g., linguistic demands, language function and form, audience and purpose, academic vocabulary, comprehension of multiple oral and written genres). MS/SS: 7A/B, 12; EdSpec: 10 C. understand and demonstrate the importance of structured oral interaction in building academic English proficiency & fluency and will be prepared to teach students tomake linguistic choices in their writing that signal awareness of different audiences and purposes [promote language production for EL students of varied proficiency levels].
