What do you think inspired Flahertys desire to travel and document the lives and customs of remote communities? How Flaherty is considered to have broken the rules of expository cinema and stretched the boundaries of what can be considered a documentary? What do you think that Revillon Freres (the institution sponsoring the project) would have supported Flahertys intervention in the film? How may Flahertys own past have influenced his depiction of the Eskimo community? Do you think that Nanook of the North is the work of an ethnographer or and Anthropologist?
