PCAN M8: Challenging Behaviors in Infants & Toddlers


Encountering challenging behaviors in infant-toddler child care is inevitable. Such challenges can pose a significant dilemma for the child care professional who may struggle with how best to respond to a child who may be preverbal, who does not use logic, and/or whose memory cannot yet retain rules or limits over the long term. Challenging behaviors in very children can also evoke strong emotional reactions in child care professionals, who are working respond to such incidents in a sensitive, supportive, and nurturing fashion. This training provides participants with the opportunity to reflect on their own beliefs and feelings regarding challenging behaviors, to learn more about some of the antecedents of challenging behavior, and to practice discussing such challenges with parents in an effective and supportive manner. 1/12/13 9:00 am 4:00 pm Sedgwick County

Eco-Friendly Child Care


Research increasingly shows that the first years of a child's life are extremely important in shaping their future health and development. Child care providers can make small changes that make a big impact on the children in their care. You will learn about several types of chemicals and the health impact they can have on children. Participants will also learn how to reduce children's exposure to toxins and provide environmentally healthy, low-toxic toys, art supplies and child care settings. Date and location to be announced

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT REGISTRATION


Reservations are HIGHLY recommended! Events with low enrollment may be cancelled. Arrive on time: Doors lock at the scheduled start time. Late arrivals will not be admitted. Reserved seats are held until listed start time. Unclaimed seats will then be given away to walk-in participants. If not registered, certificates may be held to verify payment status. Cancellation Policy: If you will be unable to attend a PDE for which you have a reservation, you must cancel your reservation 24 hours in advance. The training credits will be restored for members. For non-members, the enrollment fee may be applied to a future PDE. No refunds will be issued. Inclement Weather/Training Cancellation: In the event of a cancellation, we will try our best to contact all pre-enrolled participants. Call (316) 682-1853 for cancellation information. You can also visit: childstart.ning. com and check your local news for cancellation updates. Cancellations due to weather are determined at 3:00 pm the day of the trainings.
