Tenses & Aspect Past Simple: We use this tense to say that something is finished.

Very often ends in ED She walked to work We use this to say that something was in progress around a particular time in the past, and continued. It started in the past and continued up until sometime nearer the present. Always the Ing ending of the verb. She was walking to work. We use this if it happened along time ago. We also use it to express an action in the past before another action in the past, even though the past might only have been a short time ago.
