Background
ADB approved the regional technical assistance in 2010 to:
i. ii. iii. iv.

develop an improved framework for measuring and monitoring social protection; update the SPI and social protection assessments; develop an SPI database; and

build capacity of developing member countries (DMCs) to measure and monitor social protection.

Objectives of the Workshop


facilitate knowledge exchange between NSOs of pilot countries and NSOs of other DMCs; ii. promote monitoring of social protection within the Asia and Pacific region; and iii. support the overall objective of the SPI which can then lead to better targeting and more cost-effective implementation of policies

Co-organized with BPS-Statistics Participated in by representatives of NSOs and planning offices of 14 DMCs, namely Bangladesh, Cambodia, PRC, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Sri Lanka, TimorLeste, and Viet Nam Resource Persons: OECD, ILO and consultants
