TODAY’S FOCUS – Divine Mercy
Sunday: Today is Divine Mercy Sunday, a
day when we take special note of the
wonder of God’s mercy in forgiving our
sins and granting us reconciliation with
himself. This is a relatively new solemnity,
instituted by Pope John Paul in 2000.
Today is a day to be especially grateful for
God’s mercy and to demonstrate our
gratitude by showing kindness to others.

We at Our Lady of Lourdes
Church have been truly blessed
with the establishment of the
Christ the King Adoration
Chapel. In these uncertain times
one hour of prayer is of immense
benefit to ourselves, our families,
our parish, and our world. Please
consider committing to at least
one hour a week as a precious
expression of faith in Jesus in the
Blessed Sacrament. The Chapel
schedule can be found on the
church website and on the table at
the back of the church. Our goal
is to have at least two adorer-
guardians for every hour. To
reserve your hour for adoration fill
out the form and place in the
baskets at church, deliver to the
rectory or call Christie Gill at 231-
0048. All adorers will be
receiving an information packet
before the chapel opens.
The elementary teachers, students and
staff would like to THANK YOU for
saving the Ron’s receipts for the school.
It has been a great success and because
of you, we were able to collect
$105,989.28 in receipts. With them we
will be able to purchase several nice
items for the students and teachers. We
will let you know next fall if Ron’s will
participate in this program again.
The SMC Fine Arts Committee
will be hosting the 2nd Annual
Elementary Art Show on April 19th
after the 10:30 and 12:00 masses
in the Elementary School. Come
and view the art projects done by
our talented Elementary School
students. After the NOON Mass,
the St. Mary’s Elementary/Junior
High Band will play. Come
support our music program and
hear our band play. Both the Band
and Orchestra will also have
performances at PSU on Saturday.
The RCIA class of 2008-09 would
like to thank the many ladies of the
parish who provided delicious ST. PIUS X
cookies for our weekly meetings.
We also would like to thank the Altar
Society for the lovely reception on NEWMAN CENTER

Wesley House, our local food pantry, for the second year in a row, has been given the opportunity to double any gifts of food or
money donated to them during the months of March and April. Mr. Alan Feinstein, Cranston, RI, has announced that he will match
any donation of food or money contributed to Wesley House; they will receive $1.00 for each pound item or dollar. If you wish to
donate by check, please make it payable to Wesley House and have “Feinstein” on the memo line.

***Our parish has supported the Wesley House food pantry for years. It is a great way to centralize the distribution of food in our
community. This eliminates the duplication of efforts. Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Wichita subsidizes the salary of a full
time social worker, Alberta, at Wesley House. This is just one of the ways the Catholic Church provides assistance to those in need
in the Pittsburg area.
