CHILE NATIVE FOREST ENGINEERS URGED TO MEET SOCIAL CHALLENGES Pilar Crcamo, the new president of Chiles Institute of Native Forest Engineers says the agency must rethink its strategies and structure to take into account social changes, such as indigenous Mapuche issues. The institute recently celebrated 20 years since its inauguration and Pilar said in a statement she was certain that the new team, consisting of valuable people, would enthusiastically assume the future challenges of the institution, both in the internal and external. http://wp.me/p2ypvs-H9 LOUISIANA-PACIFICS LATAM RETURNS DOUBLE IN BEST Q1 SINCE 2006 The US group Louisiana-Pacific Corp. reports its South American operating income in Q1 2013 increased to US$6 million, compared to operating income of $3 million in Q1 2012. PROBLEMS IDENTIFIED WITH CHILE FOREST ECOSYSTEMS AND WATER A soon to be launched study has identified a general problem around the reduction in surface water and groundwater supplies and its relation to forest ecosystems in Chile.
