Dear Applicant: We are pleased to inform you that we have received your verified application from AMCAS.

We are writing to thank you for your expression of interest in attending the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Our required secondary application is only available on-line, which you may access by visiting the following link - https://app.applyyourself.com/?id=jhu-som. In addition to completing the application online, you must pay the $80.00 application fee via credit card or e-check. Applicants who qualify for the Association of American Medical College's (AAMC) Fee Assistance Program (FAP) should follow the on-line instructions at the time of submission. All secondary applications to the Regular MD program must be submitted by the December 1, 2012 deadline. Letters of recommendation must be received by December 15, 2012. Please arrange to have the required letters of recommendation sent to the AMCAS Letter Service http://www.aamc.org/students/amcas/faq/amcasletters.htm. All secondary applications and letters of recommendation for the Combined MD-PhD Program must be submitted by the November 15, 2012 deadline. There is an additional supplementary application form to complete if you are applying to the MD/PhD Program. Please visit our website - http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/som/admissions/md/ to see our view book that will provide additional information about the School of Medicine. Please carefully follow the on-line application instructions. When your application forms and letters are received, they will be examined by the Admissions Office staff and you will be notified if additional information is needed. After all required items have been received, we will send an e-mail to inform you that your application is complete and has been sent to the Admissions Committee for review. Applications are initially reviewed in the order in which they become complete. Because it may be necessary to re-evaluate some files before making final interview selections, decision notifications can vary from shortly after we receive the application through February, 2013. Although we would ideally like to meet personally with all applicants to our medical school, it is simply not feasible for us to interview every candidate. Interviews will therefore, be arranged only at the request of the Admissions Committee. Selection factors include proven academic achievement and strong personal qualities. The Admissions Committee does not require a minimal grade point average or MCAT scores. Johns Hopkins places a high value on the activities, experiences, and personal qualities of applicants. Individuals who have unusual talents, demonstrated leadership, creative abilities, and significant humanitarian experiences are sought. Finally, evidence of unequivocal commitment to medicine is an important asset: medicine is hard work!
