The crew performed exceptionally well assisting the BLUE crew during their recent refit and the crew played a vital role in getting the ship ready for sea. Following the refit assist, the crew got to take a well-deserved leave period and we are back to work starting our PreDeployment Training Period. As the name suggests, the crew will be busy going to schools and training, all with the aim of getting ready for our upcoming strategic deterrent patrol later this year. LOUISIANA (GOLD and BLUE) are now genderintegrated crews. Gender integration brings more available technical talent to our ship and this initiative is great for our submarine force. LOUISIANA is the third ship on the Bangor waterfront to have integrated crews. Both LOUISIANA crews are initially manned with three female officers and the plan over time is to add one female officer per year to the crew into the future. The crew is working to do more events with families. We are planning to have a family picnic in late July and to host a family day on the ship during the upcoming refit in August. As the schedule firms up, we will put out specific dates. Thank you for your unwavering support of LOUISIANA (GOLD) and our Sailors! Rob Peters Commanding Officer USS LOUISIANA (SSBN 743)(G)

LOUISIANA (GOLD) Families, Greetings families and friends! As the summer months approach I encourage you to take advantage of the many programs and services available to you whether it's from Fleet and Family or www.navylifepnw.com . Please take the time to browse this site to see what it has to offer. As we wrap up the refit assist portion of the patrol cycle I hope you are enjoying the stand down time with your Sailors. We begin an aggressive schools and trainer schedule when we return which will help ensure LOUISIANA is set to go to sea safely and mission ready. Please ensure you are ready for the implementation of the Resident Energy Conservation Program and the Privatization of Jackson Park housing. Town hall meetings will take place on 04 June at 1700 (Bangor Theatre) and 25 June at 1700 (Jackson Park Community Center) respectfully to cover these topics. I highly recommend you attend these and the upcoming FRG meetings to get up to date news as it is made available. Speaking of the FRG, I encourage each of you to consider joining the FRG and to becoming part of the FRG leadership team. Positions are opening up and it is vital that we keep this organization operational. If you are interested please contact: louisianafrg743@yahoo.com . As always, I appreciate everything you do to make LOUISIANA successful. V/R ITSCS(SS) Jan Rega Chief of the Boat USS LOUISIANA SSBN743(GOLD)
