Post-Suez-Max Naznake razvoja kontejnerskih brodova kazuju da bi u narednih 5 godina Post-Suez-max (ULCS) biti vei od 18,000 TEU sa irinom od 60 metara i maksimalnim gazom broda od 21m. Ova veliina brodova biti e klasificirana kao post-Suezmax brodovi, je popreni presjek broda jako velik za sadanje dimenzije Suez Canal-a. Smatra se da e prijevozna cijena po jedinici kontejnera za ovako velike brodove biti oko 30% nia nego kod tipinih kontejnerskih brodova kapaciteta 5,000-6,000 TEU. Post-Malacca-Max injenica je da bi Malacca-max kontejnerski brodovi imali maksimalno dozvoljeni gaz od 21 m za plovidbu kroz Malacca Strait. Sa planiranim proirenjem irine i dubine Suez Canal-a u narednih deset godina, kontejnerski brodovi kapaciteta 18,000 TEU takoer e moi prolaziti Suez Canal-om. S druge strane, budui kontejnerski brodovi sa gazom od 21 m zahtijevati e od luka u koje bi trebali uplovljavati njihovo produbljenje. Danas su samo luke Singapore i Rotterdam dovoljno duboke da bi mogli primiti ovakve brodove.
