FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, June 3, 2013 CONTACT: Jeremiah Maxon (315) 486-7005 Maxon Will Run for County Legislature

Jeremiah Maxon today announced his candidacy for the Jefferson County Legislature's District 10 seat. Maxon, a life-long county resident, praised the district's current representative, Michael Behling, who will not seek re-election. "Mike's done a great job representing the people of Adams, Rodman, Lorraine and Worth during the past 18 years," said Maxon, an Adams Town Planning Board member. "I'm grateful for what he's accomplished and hope to continue his legacy as the next legislator here. It's time for a candidate with fresh legs, new energy and a passion for the district. I am that candidate." Maxon, 30, graduated from Sackets Harbor Central School and Jefferson Community College. He left the county to continue his education, but returned home to start a family with his wife, Karen E. The couple has two children: Elizabeth J., 2, and Jack R., 3 months. "It's important to me that my son and daughter learn how important this area is to us," said Maxon. "Our ancestors helped found this county and we've been doing our part ever since. That's why Karen and I chose to plant our roots here." Maxon said he brings a fresh and technologically savvy perspective to the legislature. His work as a freelance business consultant has kept him abreast of the issues local businesses face. Year after year, New York ranks as one of the least business-friendly states in the country. Lets do all we can to foster growth and entrepreneurship in Jefferson County, Maxon said. Local innovation is what will keep Jefferson County growing. Maxon said, if elected, he would work with the entire Legislature to build consensus and to represent the best interests of southern Jefferson County. "I've got a great working relationship with a number of legislators already, thanks to my years as a county Republican committeeman," said Maxon. "I've gotten to know them well, worked alongside them on various campaigns and know I can hit the ground running if elected." Maxon is seeking the Republican Party's nomination in the Sept. 10 primary, as well as the Conservative and Independence party's nomination for the Nov. 5 general election. ###
