Candidates are assessed on their ability to demonstrate four increasingly difficult levels of skills.

You demonstrate analysis when you 1) Make a well reasoned, step by step argument using appropriate business studies tools and concepts 2) Apply appropriate business studies tools and concepts to case study material 3) Analysis assesses the causes and consequences of an issue and explains the likely reactions of the firm 4) Identify issues raised by the case study eg advantages and disadvantages in the short and long run 5) Present evidence for both sides of the argument 6) Comment on the implications of data given in the case study 7) Analyse data appropriately, comment on data collection or statistical techniques being used by the firm. Evaluation involves demonstrating some form of judgement
based on analysis. To evaluate the candidate must first weigh up a few points and then come to a conclusion as to which is likely to be the most significant - given the firm's circumstances. Evaluation means selecting and justifying options - taking into account the firm's situation.
