2005 CORRECTED
John V. Lombardi
Elizabeth D. Capaldi
Denise S. Mirka
Craig W. Abbey
Due to a technical error in TheCenter database, the original published hardcopy version
of The Top American Research Universities, 2005 had erroneous data in some of the tables.
Specifically, the Postdoctoral Appointees table had incorrect control rankings (pages 106-
113 in the original printed version). Because the Postdoctoral Appointees table was incor-
rect, the tables that displayed the Top American Research Universities (pages 28-39 in the
original printed version), the two tables that displayed TheCenter Measures (pages 170-185
in the original printed version), and the table that displayed The Top 200 Institutions—
Postdoctoral Appointees (2003) (pages 216-219 in the original printed version) were also
incorrect.
We corrected the control rankings in the database and posted the corrected tables on
TheCenter website (http://thecenter.ufl.edu). In addition, TheCenter has republished this
corrected hardcopy 2005 edition of The Top American Research Universities to replace the
original edition.
