Happy New Year everyone! Weve just finished a championship year in our region. As daily consumption methods continued to help increase success, city by city, more and more Distributors realised the benefits of building a sustainable business through long-term customers. As a result, our region also welcomed a new Chairmans Club member, 7Presidents Team members, 32 Millionaire Team members and262tothe GET team.* From here in the UK, a global sporting event dominated the world stage, and we cheered Herbalife-sponsored athletes who competed, 12from our region. We rooted for all of our teams and athletes in other competitions, and saw our brand shine. Youll read more inside about how were helping athletes get good nutrition through our scientifically-based products. Over 20,000 distributors attended our extravaganzas -from Kiev to Istanbul, from Barcelona to South Africa and their passion was truly inspiring. In Barcelona, we launched the HFF Euro Club and we are asking all Distributors in our region to donate one euro each month to help bring good nutrition to the children in our Casa Herbalife programs. Lets all join together and be the leaders in supporting the 25 programmes in our region. Make this your championship year. LEADVILLE 100 RACE RECAP: HERBALIFE 24 ATHLETES EARN THEIR BELT BUCKLES!
The 2012 Leadville Trail 100 Mountain Bike Race took place on 11th August, and Team Herbalife24 riders were out in full force. More than 25 Herbalife24 athletes earned their coveted finishers belt buckle, with numerous top finishes, epic achievements, and personal bests. The team was well represented by its top pro riders at the front of the pack, where the field was the most decorated and international in race history. In a field of nearly 2,000 starters and 1,500 finishers, Herbalife24 was arguably the most visible team, boasting 5 riders inside the Top-25. Accolades earned by team riders on this amazing day of racing include 1x Top-10 finish, 5x Top-25 finishers, 7x Top-50 finishers, 16 riders earned the coveted Big Buckle (sub-9 hour finish). Herbalife24s female riders had a super-strong showing with Christy Lindh (Leadville, Colorado) taking 1st Place in Women 30-39, Karen Hogan (Louisville, Colorado) taking 2nd Place in Women 40-49, and pro road star Katie Donovan (Oxnard, California) taking 9th in Pro Women in her first ever mountain bike race.

What role does nutrition play in your life as an athlete?
Nutrition is very important for anybody, whether they areprofessional athletes or not. As professional athletes, all players must follow a certain nutrition regime that matcheseachpersonsbody.

Can you tell us more about your charitablework?


The Leo Messi Foundation is focused on projects targeting children in need within the scope of upbringing and educational development, and on improving health treatments. For now, we are located in Spain and Argentina; however, weve started to open projects in other Latin American countries, such as Bolivia.

Who or what inspires you?


One day, after visiting a hospital, I understood the special aspect of being a public figure. I understood that to those ill children, the presence of a renowned soccer player could be of great help. When youre there and you can get a smile out of them, its an exciting time because now they want to continue striving even more. They really feel they will overcome the disease and will be able to pursue their dreams. I reached my dream of becoming a soccer player, and I want them to know that I struggled a lot to get here and I have to struggle even more to stay here. I want to take advantage of that effort and success to help the children who need it the most; thats my decision because Im thrilled every day I can make a child smile, when he thinks theres hope, when I see he feels happy. Thats why we decided to create the Leo Messi Foundation, and Ill keep striving to make children happy with the same strength and commitment that it takes to be a soccer player.

Argentinean-born soccer star Lionel (Leo) Messi is one of the most outstanding players in one of the best teams in the world, FC Barcelona. Simply put, this quiet and unassuming soccer phenomenon has been dominating the worlds most popular sport since he made his club debut at just 16years of age in 2003. Letting his playing speak for itself on the field, the forward/winger is now a threetime consecutive winner of FIFAs Ballon dOr (2009, 2010 and 2011) and plays for Argentinas nationalteamininternationalcompetitions.

How do you prepare for an important game?


My preparation is the same as for any other game, because all the games are important. I dont have any specific routine. The best preparation is to train every day with as much joy andeffortaspossible.

What advice would you give to youngsters who want to become professional athletes orsoccer players?
Im still too young to give advice to other youngsters. But in life, I think you need to work day by day trying to do what you really like. Because if you can achieve it, youre sure to have a happier life.

How much training did you do prior to the event?


I trained extremely hard for 9 months, as soon as I entered the race I was only focused on this competition. I had been

On the 5th August Nordic Country Director Borre Gjersvik took part in the Norseman Xtreme Triathlon. Norseman is the worlds toughest one day longdistance race. Today Magazine caught up with Borre after the race to find out how he got on.

told by those who had competed before that it required 2years preparation! However, I had Herbalife products to help me prepare.

Which Herbalife products did you use during your training?


I always start my day with a Formula 1 Shake. I take 9 Herbalifeline every day, 3 x 3 times. I always use a Herbalife recovery shake after my trainings. I prefer to use the H24 line, but I like the Herbalife Formula 1 also as I can blend various flavours. I use Formula 1 if I do not have access to H24. In Norway we launched Herbalife24 in June last year so I have only used H24 in the final stages of my training and the race. If my training lasts more than 1.5 hours then I bring with me Herbalife Prolong and also some Protein Bars.

Which products did you take on the day?


On the race day I mixed Prolong in 20 x 0,75 litre bottles, so I had mixed about 15 litres (1 litre per hour). My support team followed me by car and gave me the bottles of Prolong and Protein bars on the bike and marathon legs.

Borre recounts how the Norseman starts with a 3.8km sea swim which was in 13 degree water, the cold drains your energy but I found it surprisingly calm which was fortunate as this was the hardest of my disciplines. This was followed by a 180km bike ride where we climbed a total of 4.2km during this section. Finally the 42.2km run was flat for the first threequarters andthenclimbedsteeply for the last quarter.

What was the hardest part of the whole race for you?
To jump from a ferry at 5am into ice cold water is something I had not trained for, and then to swim 3.8km was very demanding. It was very difficult in the beginning when all the racers are lined up and we are held back in a line. When the ferry sounds the horn the race starts. At the start I got kicked in the face by another competitor and I had to turn on my back at the start of the swim as I needed some time to clear my head as the kick made me feel groggy and dizzy.

Did you receive much support on the day?


My support team was the best in the world, Vibeke my wife, my daughter LisaMaria (she also took the photos) and my father in law. They gave me the Herbalife24 Prolong, Protein Bars, water and some salt tablets. They also helped with changing clothes as during the race we experienced a mixture of warm, cold,rainandsunnyweather.

How long did it take you to complete the race?


I had been aiming for a 15 hour finish time and came in 15hand 52 minutes an achievement I am proud of. I am now thinking I might do it again next year to improve my time as I know I can achieve more!

How did you recover?


I did the worlds toughest Ironman and the worlds toughest mountain bike race (Leadville 100 MTB, Colorado) in less than one week. I could not have achieved this without my Herbalife products and my dear family.They helped me to recover fast!

Make sure you keep involved with the development of each participant. Give them the support they require, the products they need and monitor the progression they make. Dont worry if you arent a qualified personal trainer, we can increase fitness through simple activities (running, cycling, stretching, walking, ball games), so make sure yours are safe, practical and be sure to seek advice if youre unsure.

Feel comfortable with the activities you introduce so the group will feel comfortable participating. Use your enthusiasm and energy to create excitement and ensure it is enjoyed by all and manageable for all abilities this will guarantee a return of participants. MAKE SURE YOU INVITE NEW PEOPLE!


An important tip is to ensure you try and get more new people every week. Whether its through referrals, asking people in your circle of influence, or just getting out there and handing out correctly branded invites and posters. The more new people you have, the more momentum you can create.

As a Herbalife Independent Distributor you are responsible for managing your own time and business; moving up the marketing plan takes hard work and commitment the more effort you put into your business the more results you will see. Planning ahead is a great way to make the most of your time and to keep organised and focussed on your goals, it can help to have a routine especially if you are working as a Distributor full-time (or even part-time), creating a task calendar can give a sense of structure to your day and ensure you stay motivated. There are a number of tried and tested business methods that thousands of Distributors around the worlds are already using with great success. The common factor between all of these business methods is to build a sustainable customer base and create sustainable personal volume. Organising your various business methods requires commitment and hard work. Your business should be made up of activities that you are comfortable with. Some Distributors choose to focus their time and energy on only one or two methods, while others use all of them! Benly Sritoomkaew has been through a few recessions in her time. The 37-year-old was looking for work in Bangkok in 1997 when the Asian financial crisis hit and even graduates from the top universities couldnt get jobs. Today she works out of her fixed location in London and is one of Herbalifes top Distributors. Her story as a Distributor personifies that of many Herbalife Distributors around the world, who are transforming and growing their business. In fact her story is attributed as a Distributor for the 21st century and featured in a recent article in top UK newspaper The Financial Times. Now really is the perfect time to be a Herbalife Distributor. We have more product categories, we have more ways as a Distributor to talk to new and existing customers. Our Club in West London is such a happy and fun place every single day! In her geographic reach, Benly is the go-to person when her customers want to top up on Herbalife nutrition. But the customers keep going back to her because they get a little extra value through the activities going on at her club. We do different things, on different days. Ultimately we do these activities because its what we enjoy organising. We have Weight Loss Challenges, Skincare Parties, Shake Parties and more. With our Nutrition Club there are members coming back every day. Amongst the Distributors we have some friendly competition going on based on how many members come in for their daily shake, tea and aloe. This makes it fun and simple but the discipline of doing the preparation and activities is really driving the growth of our business.

When I left medical school, I took any job I could find: doing needlework, roofing, working as a salesman at the fair, even collecting bee venom. In December of 1992 my friend and classmate Dmitry Kalyalin came to me; he told me about the Herbalife products and business opportunity. I became a Distributor and a month later I had 22 clients and my income was $730 USD. I was so impressed I decided to do the business seriously and began to build my organisation in Novosibirsk and in other cities of Siberia.

In the summer of 1992 I was teaching tennis classes while finishing my degree in Economics and Business Administration. Not knowing which direction to take and worried about my future, I started searching for something: That something turned out to be Herbalife. Although I was skeptical at the beginning, I decided to become a Distributor right away and start taking the products as a nutrition supplement. After one week I felt fantastic and I had lotsofenergy. Although I wasnt comfortable selling, my mother was my first customer and because of the 5kg she lost I got another 15 customers during my first month. I qualified as a Supervisor, began to attend the trainings and learn the basics of the business, first of all the importance of attending events! At one of those events I met Mark Hughes and since then nothing has been the same. I bought his story, vision and fascinating charisma and decided to go full time with Herbalife and finish what I started. After my first year working in Spain, I decided to extend my business internationally and I worked and lived in South America for five years and then 11years in the US. During those years I felt like I had experiences that only the very few get to realise and I had the privilege of being very close to some great leaders and learnt from them, they touched my business and my personal life. To me its a privilege to help others with our products and this business opportunity and to me its luck to be able to share this business with my family and those who I love the most.Today I have a growing business in several countries, a large organisation of committed and dedicated Distributors, income that is above the ordinary and a spectacular lifestyle that includes one of my passions, travel and getting to know the world. I trained as a doctor but what I earned was not enough and I was not happy where I practiced, so I quit. To support my family I took on various jobs. It was during this difficult time that I was introduced to the Herbalife opportunity. I had personally struggled with my weight since childhood so I was very impressed by the products but I also recognised the potential business opportunity that Herbalife could offer so I decided to become a Distributor. When I started to use the products and to eat properly, I lost 8 kilos and I had my first customers and Distributors. Permanent education and trainings have helped me to build my organisation and develop my Herbalife business. In 2007 I took the opportunity to join a trip to Mexico, organised by the Company, to see Clubs. Tatiana worked as an accountant. She was overweight but found she lost weight quite quickly and also lost centimetres around her waist after just a few months of using Herbalife products and regular exercise. Encouraged by her success and the success of others, she decided to do Herbalife seriously as a business. In just one month Tatiana had 13 customers. It was not long before her income exceeded her previous earnings as an accountant. She quickly qualified to Supervisor and after eight months she qualified to GET Team. Vladislav quit from the army in 1992 and set up his own trading company but that went bust in its second year. He then worked in security but found he was not earning enough money for his needs so he took on a second job as a taxi driver.
