We also do so in recognition of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Fayyad for their unwavering commitment to dialogue and peaceful resolution to the conflict, as well as efforts in preparing Palestinian institutions for statehood. In our view, reject violence and chose the diplomatic channels are fundamental to achieving peace. Portugal hopes that this UN decision will give a much needed boost to the peace process.
