Special thanks to all who contributed to make our Block Party an amazing success. For those who donated supplies, we could not have done it without you. For those who donated time, again, without you this would have been impossible. For those who were here to support and greet the neighborhood, you are sowing seeds for the kingdom. Be prayerful, as God brings the increase!

THOUGHTS FROM BRAD

I want to thank everyone for making our BLOCK PARTY a success. Because of your generosity, we were able to keep our expenditures at a minimum. We did not have to buy any freezer pops, hot dogs, buns or water bottles. Well done church! Many of you stepped up and volunteered your time as you assisted with setting up and tearing down equipment both on Wednesday and Thursday. Well done church! Many of you volunteered during the event and made our visitors feel welcome. Well done church! Many worked hard making sure our music was uplifting and inviting. Well done church! We had an opportunity to meet up to about 50 visitors because God suspended the rain and he blessed the efforts of His faithful people. Well done church and well done God! I ask that you pray for every person we met who may need Jesus Christ as their Savior and who may need a church home. This week, pray for our VBS. Pray for the children we meet and pray for the children of this church that they will grow in their faith in Jesus Christ. Pray for our volunteers that God will use them to impact ALL the children in a mighty way. I leave you with this final thought today: If a man had half as much foresight as he has twice as much hindsight, hed be a lot better off (Robert Burdette). Have a great week! Brad

BITS FROM BRO. DAVE

BACK HOME AGAIN: Six of us returned from Senior Saints In The Smokies on Saturday evening. (Dale & Nancye Rose, Jeanne Noble, Sandy Mooney, Dave & Sue Tingler). We are grateful to have returned intact. We did have an unfortunate experience of having Jeanne Noble hospitalized overnight. However, she received excellent treatment at the University of Tennessee Medical Center and was able to make the trip home. Other than that, it was a wonderful week on the Johnson University campus. Next year will mark the 30th year of Senior Saints In The Smokies. It will be a grand event and you would do well to make plans to attend. (Anyone 55 and up!) TOURING THE AIRSTREAM PLANT: Wednesday, June 26, we will be departing for Jackson Center and a tour of the Airstream plant. The plant only provides group tours at ten oclock in the morning. Therefore, it will be necessary for us to leave here at 7:30 AM on that day. The only cost for this trip will be $5 per person for gas and whatever you want to spend on your lunch. My plan is that we have lunch at Fazolis. A sign-up sheet is posted. LaCOMEDIA DINNER THEATRE: I am now taking reservations to see The Church Basement Ladies: A Mighty Fortress, at the LaComedia Theater in Dayton. (will need payment about 60 days prior to the show date). The date is Thursday, October 17 and the cost is $44.00 per person. Remember, this includes dinner, the show and travel. If you are interested in making this trip, you can make your reservations early by contacting me or the church office. The earlier the better! (I do have ten reservations, already. We have 28 tickets on reserve.) SUNDAY EVENINGS IN THE SANCTUARY: This week, June 9, we will return to our new series Seven Lessons From Judges. Our theme is When a Woman Leads and the text comes from Judges 4:4-10. [Thanks to Joe Hoagland for filling in for me last Sunday evening]. If you are not involved in a small group on Sunday evenings, I encourage you to join us. Communion is available for those who desire. I remind you parents, once again, that we now have activities for children each Sunday evening. WEDNESDAY BIBLE STUDIES: Our classes will not be meeting this week (June 12) due to VBS. We will, however, return on June 19, with both our 10:00am and 6:30pm sessions. We plan to complete our current study on Colossians at that time.

Last week in Childrens Church, we learned about Samson and his incredible strength. After having an arm wrestling competition, we decided that none of us are as strong as Samson. But where did Samson get his great strength? From God! When Samson stopped trusting the Lord, he lost His strength. God gives us each the strength that we need when we put our trust in Him. Thank you to everyone that helped out with the Block Party, we couldnt have done it without you! Next on the agenda, VBS! Hannah

SCOTTS THOUGHTS
2 Corinthians 5:21 New International Version (NIV) 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin[a] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. Jesus is our example in everything. His willingness to surrender himself to be a blessing to others should be a guideline for our every action. Jesus left heaven and became one of us so that we might be redeemed from a life defined by our sinful desires. He became sin so that we might become His righteousness. Jesus cared so much about our sin problem and the eternal consequence for our disobedience that He was willing to become something contrary to His perfect nature so we could have the opportunity to become the opposite of our nature. He became like us so we could become like Him. This is the example set for us to follow. We have the good news of salvation in Jesus. Are we ready to follow His lead and die to self so others can have new life in Jesus? Are we ready to become like the lost and seek them on their terms so they can become like us, followers of Jesus? Jesus led the way and calls us to follow What are we willing to become so that others might be redeemed?

Church Health and Biblical Balance

Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony & live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)

Global Evangelism
We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and Soon-Coming King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and Ministry

After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.

How Can I Respond Today?

At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all issues. We believe that Gods Word is clear concerning what a person must do to become a Christian. Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation. Turn (repent) from the sin in your life. Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit into your life. To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better understand what you are committing to as a member.

New To Our Family

Discipleship

We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).
