PROCEDURE: 5.1. Paint Materials Storage 5.1.1. Paints and thinners shall be stored in well-ventilated buildings and storage temperatures as recommended in the Manufacturers Data Sheet. 5.1.2. Paint Materials used at construction sites must be covered with appropriate canvas, tarpaulins, or equivalent for a temporary storage Page 4 of 7

Doc. No. MS-FBE-001 Rev.00 period not to exceed 14 days and/or as recommended by paint manufacturer. 5.1.3. Temperature sensitive polymerization paint materials must be stored in air conditioned storage area to maintain the temperature as recommended in the Manufacturers Data Sheet. Each paint container should be marked in accordance with 09-SAMSS060 Paint shall not be used from a container showing a sign of leakage. Paints which have exceeded the shelf life shall be set aside and not to be used.

5.1.4.

5.1.5. 5.1.6.

5.2. General Requirements 5.2.1. Ensure that supervisor and coating applicator hold valid coating certification card issued by Saudi Aramco. Saudi Aramco Paint Data Sheet and MSDS for coating system (APCS) are always available at site. Compressor air supply shall be free of oil, moisture and contamination. As a minimum, the inspector shall check and approved the air quality at the start and mid-point of each 8-hour period. This shall be determined as below. (Attach a piece of blotter or absorbent paper to a clip board, then hold it approximately 45-60cm in front of the blast nozzle during air flow only, with a nozzle pressure of 388 kPa (50 psig) for approximately one minute. Satisfactory results shall be no water or oil contamination on the blotter.) 5.2.4. Blasted or Sanded areas are cleaned of any contaminants by brushing or by blowing with clean, dry, and oil-free compressed air. All edges of the original coatings are feathered out at least 50mm beyond bare metal. Gloss of existing coating are removed by sanding or by any equivalent means prior to over coating. Paint shall not be applied if one of the following conditions exist ( unless paint is specifically formulated for averted condition): Page 5 of 7

5.2.7.

Doc. No. MS-FBE-001 Rev.00 a. Substrate temperature is less than 10C of the temperature limit given in the applicable Saudi Aramco Data Sheet. b. Substrate temperature less than 3C above the dew point. c. Maximum substrate temperature during paint application shall not exceed Paint Manufacturer recommendations as per Technical Data Sheet 5.2.8. Paint shall not be applied during adverse weather conditions such as; but not restricted to the following. a. Wind is strong enough to blow sand, salt spray or other foreign matter to the surface being painted. b. Wind is strong enough to cause dry spray or otherwise seriously disturb the spray pattern when application by spray gun. c. Rain. 5.2.9. Cover areas adjacent to defects with adhesive tape before commencing paint touch-up, apply paint by observing WFT & DFT requirement for particular system with required overlapping, maintain the recoating interval period and remove the adhesive tape.

5.3. Repair Procedure for FBE damage: 5.3.1. Any dust on the surface of FBE coated shall be removed by using compressed air & Clean the defective area by solvent or detergent wash. Surface preparation shall be done as per Saudi Aramco Engg Standard SAES-H-100 Section 5 and SAIC-H-2048 shall be applied. Paint manufacturers recommendations shall also be considered The gloss surface around damages shall be removed from the shop applied FBE coating that will be overlapped by the patch-up coating by light abrasive (sweep blasting) or sanding. Damaged spot areas shall be grinded to a rough metal surface using at least an 80 grit disc sander or alternatively garnet blast clean, feather the coating edges at least 50 mm beyond bare metal and air blown to remove dust. Paint preparation shall conform to SAES-H-100 Section 7 & 8. For quantities over 5L, a power stirrer shall be used for agitation. Paint skin shall be cut and removed before application on recently opened and partially used containers. Prior to application, all paint shall be thoroughly mixed until it is homogeneous. Coating shall be applied by spatula, brush, roller, or spray depending on the size and nature of the damaged area Page 6 of 7
