Its No Shirt, No Problem for Guest Star Ian Ziering

The temperature inside the Chippendales Theater at Rio just got a little hotter thanks to Ian Ziering. The teen heartthrob (OK, so he wasnt actually a teen, he just played one) from the infamous 90210 zip code is all grown up, and lets face it, hes never looked better. Honestly, at 49 years old, I feel flattered. Im lucky to be in the shape that would allow me to do something like this, Ziering said. When I got the call from my manager and he asked if I would be open to hosting Chippendales, I said, Chippendales, Chippendales? The male revue show? and he said, Yes. And then I asked if I had to strip, and he said, Its flirty, not dirty. And wearing the iconic bow tie and cuffs are a part of it. When I thought about the pros and cons, I couldnt think of any cons! Ziering takes on hosting duties with the iconic Chippendales cast, following in the footsteps of past guest stars such as Jake Pavelka and Joey Lawrence. But what might set the actor apart from past guest stars, besides his age, is his attitude toward the role, which he fills through June 30. He takes his new gig in stride and is actually one of the coolest and most laid-back guys youll meet. Hes humble but a go-getter, loves fitness (look at those abs!) and loves staying healthy. And the cutest part about him is his love for his wife. When I hung up the phone with my agent, my first question was to my wife, asking her how she felt about me doing something like this. And she was like Well, go get after it, Magic Ian! he recalled. Shes very supportive; Im a real lucky guy. Ive got a fantastic woman; shes a fantastic mom and an ideal partner. She

understands what I do and shes OK with it, and I couldnt be more in love. But dont worry, ladies, his love doesnt deter his flirtatious streak onstage as he joins the cast of a dozen, barely clothed Adonises, popping on- and offstage throughout the performance. What makes the Chippendales, and now Ziering, so irresistible is the sex appeal that oozes out from each number, whether it be a boudoir scene where clothes seemingly come completely off, or some of womens ultimate fantasiesthink firemen, construction workers, vampires and men in uniform. Its intimidating when you have to stand onstage amongst a bunch of men who are dedicated to maintaining peak musculature and athleticism, and theyre six-five, 240 pounds of twisted steel and sex appeal. Its a lot to stand up to. My goal is to not look like Chris Farley, Ziering joked. Jokes, laughter and an infectious smile are more charms that Ziering whips out onstage. And all the attention from the screaming female fanshes taking that all in stride, too. Theres a certain graciousness her conveys as well, and its quite refreshing and darn sexy. I never envisioned that I would be able to bring something to the entertainment table that would fit Las Vegas. Vegas is so presentational; its live theater and, for me, its always been film or television, which isnt why people come to Las Vegas, he said. So its exciting to be a part of all of this, the thrust of the entertainment of Vegas. Im an actor; its just like another role, and this role could quite well be one of the funnest roles Ive ever played! Were thinking it might be the hottest, too. j
